hot take but wizards, mages, sorcerers, etc. have all become way too dependent on orbs to solve all their problems. what happened to fine tuning a spell after months of parsing through ancient texts, scrolls, and tomes? magick used to be a process. now any two-bit wand-wielder can just ponder the orb for a few minutes to collect whatever arcane secrets they want! is this really the future we envisioned for this ancient practice?
