Okay so my friends have been running a pokemon dnd campaign for a couple years now (jeez it’s been years), and i’ve been enjoying it from the sidelines as a (not so) silent observer (i just post a lot of gifs while they are all having their character development)
Anywho, recently, i’ve had more free time and been looking into and trying to understand the battle system, bc its an interesting hybrid of dnd dice rolls, and the pokemon battles i know and love, and i want so badly to be able to have a pokemon dnd battle like- pokemon showdown style, where we each bring a team of 6 lvl 20 pokemon with 4 selected moves and an item, and just battle it out, rolling dice and exploiting combos that were probably oversights. I think doubles would make more sense than singles, bc setup strategies seem significantly worse and it just doesnt seem that suited to a singles format
Either way i have been enjoying spamming a friends dms asking questions to see how broken of a combo i can get
Rn i’ve been cooking up an electric nuke with heliolisk and charjabug, are they the best pokemon? No, but it is funny to that it can potentially do 6d8 +10 damage to every pokemon in a 20ft radius at lvl 9 (battery boosted thunder in electric terrain, with sun up to activate solar power). I think i can push it more, i’m still looking through the multiple page pdfs of all the moves and pokemon to see what i can cook up
melvin - a player character i designed for a pokemon dnd game i’m gonna be playing! he’s just manipulate mansplain malewife and he has a ledyba backpack and burmy phone case :)
