RMT #18 Slowbro+Tangrowth (OU)
Tangrowth @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Earthquake
- Knock Off
- Rock Slide
Slowbro @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 232 Def / 28 SpD
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Psyshock
- Calm Mind
- Slack Off
As described in my last move set post over Calm Mind Slowbro these two pokemon work amazing together. Slowbro is capable of taking many of the physical attacks that Tangrowth can not stomach as well as absorb almost any fire attacks aimed at it while Tangrowth can take on any electric or grass attacks aimed at Slowbro. Tangrowth can also check Latios somewhat which is a big problem for Slowbro. You may be looking at that Tangrowth set and see Rock Slide there and be rather puzzled. Well you see this core and by extension this team struggles quite a bit against Mega Charziard Y, so Rock Slide can act as a fantastic lure for it. If you’re not a big fan of lures and you don’t like being walled by Ferrothorn then Hidden Power Fire is a fine option as well. Now Slowbro preforms two roles on this team. One being a late game sweeper against bulkier teams and a physical wall against more offensive ones, so make sure to know how you are going to be playing your Slowbro in the match.
Garchomp @Rocky Helmet
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 240 HP, 176 Def, 92 Spe
Impish Nature
- Dragon Tail
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Fire Blast
Garchomp was my first pick for a teammate to this core. Garchomp checks three very important pokemon that can be rather bothersome to this core. Them being Bisharp, Scizor, and Talonflame. It also provides Stealth Rock support and is just handy for wearing stuff down which is something that the core appreciates.
Latios @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Defog
- Hidden Power [Fire]
Latios was the next teammate I chose for the team because I needed a defoger as well as something that could nuke walls as well as switch into Mega Charziard-Y.
Lopunny-Mega @ Lopunnite
Ability: Scrappy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Return
- Fake Out
- High Jump Kick
- Ice Punch
Mega Lopunny is the mega of choice for its ability to pressure offensive teams thanks to its speed and amazing neutral coverage. I chose Ice Punch just because hitting things like Garchomp is nice, however Healing Wish and Power Up Punch is always an option.
Bisharp @ Life Orb
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Knock Off
- Iron Head
- Pursuit
Bisharp is the final pick for this team as it forms a nice offensive core with Lopunny and allows me to hit psychic and fairy types super effectively. Bisharp also provides utility in Pursuit which is useful for trapping Latis which can be a big threat to this team if Tangrowth gets weakened.
Azumarill is the primary threat to this team because litteraly nothing can switch into this monster besides Slowbro which can’t actually do anything to it. The Belly Drum set is particularly terrifying as if the opponent does set one up, something that isn’t difficult against this team, its pretty much an automatic loss.
Volcanion also happens to be a threat to this team for tis ability to outspeed half of the team and easily do tones of damage to them. Not to mention that it can easily stomach an attack from any of the other and do big damage to them as well.
Mega Venusaur walls pretty much every single pokemon on this team except Latios and since Mega Venu is commonly paired with a Pursuit trapper its basically GG.
