Pokémon au where Hiro and Tadashi are not trainers but when Tadashi suffers an accident and is in a coma Hiro, who at the time was 10 years old, notices the bills from the hospital piling up and also take notice that pokémon battles/contests make good money, finishes high school at 11 and runs away to take part of both to help with the bills...

Wait, it’s the Pokemon world. Kids run off and get into deadly battles with killer monsters as their only defense all the time. He’ll be fiiiine :D

But poor Aunt Cass can’t help but worry. She wants to send him off with Mochi at least for protection, the only Pokemon the family still has after she gave up her Pokemon journey years ago to raise the boys after their parents died, but Mochi’s too old to be getting up to such shenanigans anymore. Besides, the Purugly was never much of a battler. He preferred contests.

But thankfully Tadashi was working under Professor Callaghan, the region’s Pokemon Professor, and Aunt Cass is able to call him for help. The day Hiro is ready to start on his Pokemon journey, Abigail - acting as her father’s assistant in Tadashi’s place while he’s in a coma - arrives carrying a single pokeball in a box. It’s not one of the usual starters, she regretfully explains, because Hiro is starting his journey later than most kids do and all of the starters were already chosen. But her father had an interesting Pokemon lying around the lab, and when he heard about Hiro’s circumstances he thought that this Pokemon would be a perfect match.

Curious, Hiro reaches to pick up the pokeball, eager to see who his future starter would be...

“Cutting it kinda close, huh?” A sailor laughed.

Hiro couldn’t even muster up a glare, bent over huffing. “I didn’t…huff…expect my…huff huff…bike to be…huff…destroyed!”

“Dis-..?” The man started then shook his head, “Anyways, you made it with a minute to spare- ticket?” Breath back, Hiro straightened to hand over the slip he dug out his pocket, the man looking closely. “Alright. Your in room 7, you might have it to yourself since your roommates hasn’t shown. Go on aboard! Also, pokémon are allowed out if they’re not too big!”

Hearing this, Hiro paused mid-way up the ramp and grabbed his lone pokéball. “Come out Mega!”

“Eeelleee!" the Elekid cried, exaggeratedly stretching.

He rolled his eyes, continuing. "Don’t be a baby, Mega. You know the bike won’t fit you and I was in a rush after- first chance to let you out.”

The electric-type let out a sullen “Lekiiid." before matching step with him.

"WAIT! WE MADE IT!”

He froze, turning to see the boy and pikachu from earlier bent before the sailor who had started up after him. “Just in time.” He heard the sailor say, “A bit later and I’d have pulled the ramp up for us to set sail. Ticket?”

“It’s uhh…” the boy franticly searched himself before pulling a slip from his back pocket. “Here!”

“Huh,” the sailor said, “Lucky 7 indeed, your roommate just made it also!”

Hiro was already hurrying off before he overheard the reply, hands shaking in his jacket pockets. Rooming with those bike destroyers! I’m going to get thrown overboard when I smother them in their sleep!…it’d be worth it, destroying Tadashi’s bike like that…

“Elekid?" Mega asked worriedly.

He blinked, "We’ll just avoid them- go to bed after, wake earlier so we don’t run into them…I don’t think I’d be able to keep from punching the guy otherwise.”

Mega’s eyes narrowed, “Kid eel, elekid?”

“We’re not fighting them,” Hiro said, pleased at how firm it was despite his own desire for such. “It’s not worth it to waste all our hard work to get to Hoenn for our journey.”

His best friend thought that over, wincing at an obvious reminder of an unpleasant job (most likely washing Mochi and Lucky), before nodding in agreement.

“We can do this!”

Or the Pokémon AU where Megabot is an Elekid and Hiro will not be friends with someone who destroyed his bike (and why the heck does he keep running it that boy and his Pikachu!?)

(Please tell me that this ship is not the St. Anne. Because all I can see is Hiro and Ash (Red?) battling each other, and their two electric types causing the ship to sink. NOT GOOD.

However, considering how many times Ash has fried someone’s bike and then ended up travelling with them, he’s probably really confused by Hiro’s behaviour. Shouldn’t they be travel buddies by now? He has no idea where he went wrong. Maybe it’s his Pikachu? But no, Hiro has an electric type as well, that can’t be it. His hair? Possibly, though honestly Hiro’s hair is just as much a birds-nest as his own. Was it his hat? Hiro seems to always be glaring at his hat, as if there’s something wrong with it. Maybe that was it. His hat.

But dangit, he’s going to make Hiro his friend if it’s the last thing he ever does! Because everyone is his friend, even Team Rocket - although they keep trying to deny it. At this point Ash takes Hiro’s behaviour as a kind of challenge! And Ash Ketchum never backs down from a challenge!

BTW, on the Chandelure!Baymax-Tadashi looks over Hiro's pokedex, and notices that Baymax is the only ghost or fire pokemon that he's ever owned. He also notices that after fighting Giritina he seems to be catching more fairy types. Even the Eevee he had is now a Sylveon, even though he hates pink-But maybe it was shiny and is now blue. Fred lost twenty dollars on his bet with Gogo either way.

Hiro is a very practical trainer, okay? When he nearly gets his ass killed fighting a dragon-type, he’s gonna make sure that DOESN’T HAPPEN AGAIN. (Although Eevee becoming a Sylveon was actually a coincidence. He’d actually bought a water stone that he was going to give Eevee as a gift, but Eevee evolved before he could get the chance. Ah well, maybe he can sell it to Honey Lemon, he’s pretty sure she’s got a Staryu)

Although Hiro may also have some ulterior motives behind his catches. He’s noticed that Tadashi has become a little touch-starved since he got back from the distortion world. And Fairy-types are some of the cuddliest of the pokemon. So if he happens to leave some of his pokemon team out of their pokeballs at night, and said pokemon happen to crawl into bed next to Tadashi to keep him company and keep the nightmares away, well, who’s going to say anything?

Baymax totally goes to visit Tadashi too. He basically acts as a nightlight XD

Pokemon AU with Hiro as N? Callaghan as Ghetsis? Although the end twist after the battle, just as Hiro's about to jump out of the castle-Looker runs in with news that Hiro was the (kidnapped) younger brother of Tadashi. Confused, Hiro decides to flee anyway to think. Riding on Zekrom. Tadashi doesn't waste a moment-It'd been ten years since he lost his brother. He lets out Reshiram and chases. No matter how long it takes, Tadashi will bring his brother home with him. Hiro just wants to think.

What an interesting twist, because wasn’t the dragon originally split by two brothers? Twins of course, but I think it’s popular fanon that the younger of the two was the Hero if Ideals, who Zekrom followed. What if it turns out that Hiro and Tadashi are actually reincarnations of the brothers?

When it comes out, everyone assumes that history will repeat itself, and that the two brothers will nearly destroy the country with their conflict once more. That had been Callaghan’s plan all along, as he hoped that after the dust had settled he could take over the country while everyone was still trying to recover.

But they underestimated how much Tadashi cared for his missing brother. When Tadashi finally caught up to Hiro, rather than getting into a fight with the two dragons, he begged Hiro to just talk. Hiro confessed that he refused to believe that he was actually Tadashi’s brother just yet, but he was willing to listen so long as Tadashi didn’t try to force the truth on him.

And that’s when history changed. Because Tadashi, the reincarnation of the Hero of Truth, happily cast aside the truth to make Hiro comfortable. To help him achieve his ideals. Zekrom became confused and disoriented, but Tadashi didn’t hesitate. He would lie and tell Hiro they weren’t brothers if it would make him happy.

But then that makes Hiro curious about the truth. Because if this stranger is willing to give up so much for him, potentially give up the loyalty of a Legendary Pokemon for him, then maybe he is Hiro’s brother. Suddenly Hiro desperately wants to seek out the truth, and Reshiram also becomes confused.

For the first time since the original twin brothers, the dragons might finally become one once more.

Professor Callaghan is the pokemon professor at Terraque Region. Both Hiro and Tadashi received their starters from him. They were even introduced to his assistant and daughter Abigail Callaghan.

Unlike other regions, Terraque Region offers all starters from Sinnoh, Kanto, Kalos and Hoenn, so a total of 12 starters to choose from.

Tadashi chose a Piplup when he began his journey, he completed the pokedex minus the legendaries all the while battling gym leaders and joining in pokemon contests.

Yes Pokemon contests are a thing.

But just before he could arrive at the eighth gym leader, Tadashi saw a certain rich kid (ehemFredehem) getting kidnapped by Team Krei (unoriginal I know) so he sets out to help out the rich kid.

Tadashi and Fred fought valiantly and won. Unfortunately, team Krei also got wind of Tadashi’s affinity to technology, so Alistair Krei, big boss of Team Krei used a Viluplume and spread sleeping powder on everyone, the kidnapping of Fred and Tadashi successful.

Three days after, Hiro’s 14th birthday came and the little Hamada was disappointed that his older brother forgot his birthday. (No Hiro, he was kidnapped!) and so Hiro got to choose a starter.

Hiro chose a Charmander. It fully evolved into a Charizard, He caught many pokemon so he soon did not put Charizard into his party.

Hiro competed solely on the Pokemon league, as soon as the younger Hamada got to his fourth gym battle, with his current party. (He evolved them with the use of stones and whatnot, he got info the his brother was kidnapped by Team Krei.

First he sets out and approached an Officer Jenny but was declined. So he plans to rescue his older brother on his own. And he did succeed. Rescuing the rest of the nerd herd in the process. (“WAY TO GO HIRO!”)

A tearful reunion ensues and both brother then went their separate ways.

Imagine Hiro’s excitement and joy when he battles Tadashi as the Pokemon Champion.

Hiro losses though.

(Heeey, here we go, other anon! A Pokemon AU where Tadashi doesn’t die! And heck yes to Fred’s team basically being all dragon-types, because let’s face it, that’s EXACTLY what Fred would have. And half of them would have been given to him by his rich parents as a child while the other half he would have befriended in the wild)

(Hi, can I continue based on that ask from before?) Hiro as well as the team finds out that Team Yokai actually flung him into the Distortion World to save their TRUE leader-Abigail. There Hiro finds out that she went completely insane, laughing how Giratina was now hers. That the world is hers to control. That Team Yokai was now pointless to her.When her father is mentioned she lashes out angrily that it doesn't matter anymore. Tadashi appears as Hiro is down to just chandelure Baymax to help.

(Oh god there are WAY too many Pokemon AUs running right now. Please let me know if I mix any of them up ;_;)

The Distortion world got to her. She’s been trapped with Giratina for too long, and the territorial Pokemon has driven her mad with its constant attacking, thinking she is an intruder. But when Team Yokai arrives, they’ve reached a tentative truce, which makes her think she’s controlling the creature.

When Hiro and Baymax try to stop her though, they’re stuck with a bit of a disadvantage because while both Pokemon are ghost-types and therefore weak to each others’ ghost attacks, Giratina’s dragon typing makes it resistant to Baymax’s fire attacks. And the rest of Hiro’s team is quickly outmatched.

But Abigail isn’t the only one who’s been trapped in the Distortion world with Giratina now, and has formed a pact with the powerful legendary. Once Tadashi gets involved, the two end up fighting over who controls Giratina, leaving the legendary confused and frustrated. It starts attacking everything in sight, and that’s how Hiro, Tadashi, Abigail, the nerd crew and Team Yokai all end up teaming up together to stop Giratina from destroying the world and safely returning the violent Pokemon to its home in the Distortion World

Another Pokemon AU, but Baymax is exactly the same as in the movie, except because some Pokemon are sapient (it varies between individuals) he has stuff on Pokemon anatomy as well. And aura-related stuff. So when Hiro decides it's a good idea to hug someone's Honedge Baymax knows when to pull them apart because 'Hiro your aura levels are: low'. Mochi is a Raichu. Hiro has an adapter to let him plug a sleeping Mochi's tail into things to charge them. Stuff like that.

Oh god, Hiro would. He probably carries around this little charger adapter thing that can basically turn any electric-type pokemon into a walking wall outlet. It actually becomes plot-relevant later in the story when he and Baymax end up stranded in a cave and Baymax’s battery has died. Hiro manages to use the adapter and connect it to some wild Magnemite hovering nearby to re-charge Baymax so they can get out of the cave.

(He totally catches one of the Magnemite before they leave though so he doesn’t have to bother people to borrow their electric-types anymore. He names it Megabot, natch XD)

Hiro didn't like ghost pokemon due to an incident when he was younger, and now he hates fire types. A few days after Tadashi died he received Tadashi's last pokemon from his journey. The name atop labeled as 'Baymax'. Curious, and believing it was a Blissey, Hiro lets it out. Only to reveal a pokemon that he's certain mocks him-Chandelure.(The faces!) Baymax the chandelure quickly gets attached to Hiro and they go on a journey to stop the organization known as Yokai. (Sorry I love Pokemon a lot)

Oh my god I’m kicking myself so hard for never seeing that. THE FACES. YOU’RE RIGHT. And oh god a fire/ghost time that’s so wonderfully awful, am I a bad person for laughing? Probably.

But oh god I’m sure the first meeting would go something like this: Hiro releases the pokeball, expecting a round soft fluffy pokemon to appear (he remembers Tadashi talking about his latest pokemon in the same tone as people talking about babies, so he’d kind of assumed it was something cute), and then BAM it’s not cute at aaaaall (although that’s a matter of opinion :P)

Baymax’s first reaction is “yay new friend I’m finally allowed to come out again let’s give hugs!” and Hiro’s first reaction is “AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH”

There is a lot of screaming and running and Baymax cheerfully chasing after Hiro, oblivious at first that Hiro’s freaking out because he’s just so happy to be out of the pokeball again. Finally Hiro gets backed into a corner and he’s so scared he starts crying and that’s when Baymax clues on to what’s happening. The poor thing is horrified that he’s caused his trainer’s brother such distress, and immediately backs off, floating away until Hiro gets the chance to calm down.

Needless to say it’s not the best first meeting.

But in the process of all the freaking out, Hiro loses Baymax’s pokeball, so he can’t return the Chandelure, and Baymax won’t leave him alone because he wants to protect him. Eventually Hiro just accepts that he’s stuck with this creepy pokemon following him around, and learns to ignore him as he goes about on his pokemon journey.

But then they get attacked by Team Yokai, and everything changes.

Hiro doesn’t have any other pokemon yet because Baymax has already been registered as his starter by the pokemon league, no matter how much he insists otherwise, and he’s been too scared to use Baymax for battle to catch a new one. And so when the grunt attacks him, he has no way to defend himself. He braces himself to be hit by an attack (A hyperbeam? For a kid? REALLY? Talk about overkill) and figures he’s dead, and he’ll see Tadashi again soon. But then Baymax dives in to take the hit.

And normal attacks do nothing to ghost types >:)

Hiro watches in wonder as Baymax absolutely destroys the grunt, all by himself, and sends the grunt running for the hills. When they’re long gone, Baymax comes back to Hiro’s side to make sure he’s okay, and to his shock Hiro just grabs him and hugs him the best he can without getting burnt.

They get along much better after that. And with Baymax’s help he starts to form his own pokemon team and taking the pokemon world by storm.

(And then it comes to light that Team Yokai may have been responsible for Tadashi’s death and suddenly things get serious. Both Baymax and Hiro are determined to avenge him, and so they immediately decide to take on Team Yokai, by themselves if they have to. Thankfully they end up finding some nerdy but helpful trainers to help them out XD)
