I'm sure you've talked about this before somewhere but how did you end up in Antarctica? When were you there? What did you do? It's been a long term goal of mine to go to Antarctica (one of those holdovers from my childhood dreams) so it's super cool to 'know' (as much as following on tumblr is knowing) someone who's been.

Were there penguins????

I went to Antarctica with the NSF's Antarctic Artists and Writers Program, which has been retooled into PolarSTEAM. It's rather competitive and a bit of a whirlwind, so if you really really want to go down and don't really mind what you're doing there (and would like to get paid for it!) then I highly recommend getting hired on as a contractor. There are lots of cool people even if you're sorting recycling or washing dishes. I had a blast with the AAW, but if I were to go down again I'd totally do it that way.
