Thank you so much! I actually didn’t realize I wanted to major in biology until about junior year of high school! I jumped around with my interests a lot during high school, first I wanted to pursue English, then biochem, and then finally bio! What really helped me discover my passion for biology was a summer camp I did the summer before junior year. I learned a lot and got some hands on experience in a lab. I ended up cloning E. Coli to express GFP and that was soooo cool! The more biology classes I take the more I love the subject! Oh and a book that really sparked my interest in microbiology is Spillover by David Quammen. It is a really interesting book about zoonotic diseases and is totally worth a read! I hope you have a wonderful day! :)

Dear Santa,

It’s June but I bet Santa gets bored of only receiving lettersin December from little kids trying to convince him they’ve been good so LET’SGO!!!

Christmas was only a big thing for me when I was little, so,basically around the time I was in junior school. I don’t know how long ago it’sbeen since I’ve stopped believing in Santa.

I do remember on one Christmas I woke up to an envelope(from Santa, of course) giving me a little hint to where my present was hidden.So, little me, always up for solving some riddles dutifully went and found mypresent. But there was more! On the present was a riddle for the next locationand it went on and on and on…. I spent that Christmas morning on a small scavengerhouse through our house solving riddles and looking for presents. It was so funand so much heart was put into it! It’s one of my fondest childhood memories.

Of course, I’m pretty sure even then I knew Santa wasn’treal. I could recognize my mom’s handwriting from a mile away and I remember Ibegged her to do the same thing for me next year. Hey, maybe Santa as a jollyold man with a huge white beard isn’t real, but my mom does a pretty darnedgood job at filling in that vacancy!

Seriously, thanks mom. You make a great Santa (even if youdon’t have a beard)
