I'm going to be a poll worker (March 2020) and I'm glad this notice was mailed out to us, but the training today didn't touch on this. I just want to share it, so if any trans voters experience discrimination on this front, just know that this was a new notice for all of California that all poll workers are expected to be aware of. The handouts at my training also have a bullet point listed on there, and all the info should be available online, even if my instructor didn't discuss it, so there is no excuse if a worker repeatedly misgenders you. Voter ID should only be required for newly registered/first-time voters who have not yet confirmed their form of identification. (It will say "ID Required" next to your name on the roster when we Need to ask for it.) If you've had a change in name that was not updated on your voting registration, or it is not updated in the current roster for your assigned precinct, you will be asked to sign both names on the line next to your previous name, but you will be able to vote normally (not "provisionally") after that. However, you may be asked to vote "provisionally" for another reason, such as a change in address or for a different political party. (Please take a moment to check your voter information with your county!!) If you would like to register to vote up to or ON election day, it is now allowed in California!! If this is your first time to register, or if you are not yet on the Official Roster, you will need to vote on a "provisional" ballot. ((Also, in case you were unaware, as of 2019, California now allows trans/nonbinary people to use an X as their gender marker on their ID cards! You no longer need a doctor's note to change your gender marker, you just have to sign a form with your dmv to swear that the change is not for illegal purposes.)) Know your rights, and share the info with other Californians! Please go vote!!

ANOTHER ELECTION OF POLLWORKING DONE!!!! 🦆🦆🦆🦆 THIS ELECTION'S PIN IS A FUCKING QUAIL AND I LOVE IT SO MUCH!! (California state burb, if you didn't know.) 💙 It is by the grace of God that my eyeliner came out so evenly this morning in no time at all, and that my makeup lasted all day, PERFECTLY vibrant and shimmery. I wasn't late at all, we set up everything on time, all day was easy situations (except fucking redistricting again causing like half of our voters to need to use the one and only accessible ballot marking device, since it has access to all ballots in the county, but we don't...) We had a consistent flow of voters, so it wasn't horribly boring. ❄ The only complaint I have is that it was fucking FREEZING AND RAINY ALL DAY. Ice cold, moist air gushing in through the door I was sitting in front of. I have been home for about an hour, but I have not warmed up yet. My boans ache from the rain, too.
