London Grammar – Bones of Ribbon
This song is like when you wake up in early in the morning as the sun is rising after a really great night and you just feel limitless like you can do anything.

The Naked and Famous – Hearts Like Ours
What you will see in a lot of this list is how much I appreciate when a song ebbs and flows, and when it layers things as it repeats sections. I don’t know if there’s a better example than this one. I used to crank the volume for guitar riff right before the final chorus and then turn it back to normal a few seconds later when the chorus started. This song always makes me feel hopeful.

MXMS (me and my shadow) – After Night
Feels cliche to say but hauntingly beautiful. Luscious. I wish I could float in the sonic waves. Still so sad this band was as short-lived as they were, but at least I did get to see them live once and hang out with them in a graveyard.

Tessa Violet – Games
The build and release of this song I think really backs up the lyrics for that feeling of “Am I overthinking this? Am I the crazy one? Or am I actually 100% correct”
She later did a version of this song with another band and it’s not as good but the music video is notable for basically being the twilight baseball scene and they got Carlisle to cameo in it.

Olivia Rodrigo – love is embarrassing
Sometimes a song just has a fun beat and riffs and an infectious energy, does its thing, and doesn’t overstay its welcome. This is that song. Also, love is embarassing. I do appreciate that after all of that it’s still “gotta keep trying though”.

blink-182 – Feeling This
I love the back and forth between the energy levels and Tom and Mark’s vocals in the first part before we get a nice bridge that builds up to the two of them coming together for a final layered chorus that always gets me hyped.

Wolf Alice – The Last Man on Earth
This song initially didn’t really catch my attention and then I saw Wolf Alice in concert and started openly weeping during this song. It was like a religious experience. Anyway, don't get wrapped up in yourself waiting for the main plot to happen to you; go make the plot with the help of your friends.

Phoebe Bridgers – I Know the End
The first part of the song is a beautiful sort of melancholy, but when the second part of the song starts... there needs to be a word for the specific emotion that section makes me feel. Like the closest analogue I have is... nostalgic, reflective, hopeful, and feeling inertia to do? I could listen from 2:14 – 4:33 on loop forever and never get tired of it.

Admittedly if you have no context from the game this is just a nice little orchestral piece, so let me try and put you in the right mindset: after many hours traveling through the ruins of the aliens that inhabited these planets centuries before you, learning and looking for a way you can save your people from the sun exploding you’ve finally accepted that it’s just the end of its natural lifespan and nothing can be done and everything ends eventually but that’s how new things are born, so you have one last campfire music jam with all of your friends and then cause the big bang to start a new universe. Just realized that the reason I love making friends on tumblr is because it’s exactly how you make friends on the playground as a six year old. No, I don’t know their name but they love mermaids too and built this awesome sand castle. No, I don’t know their age but their imaginary cheetah is friends with mine. You like this show? You like this character?? You can sing the theme song really loud??? Here is a flower crown. Here is a juice box. You can share my time and I might never see you again but part of you stays in my soul forever. In my mind we’re still on the swing set and the sky is blue and nothing will ever be wrong again.
