Welcome to another edition of The Pace Report featuring UK Jazz and Soul vocalist Polly Gibbons performing new music from her Resonance Records release "Is It Me?" at the Iridium in New York City. "Is It Me?" is Polly's third release and features songs she's written as well as covers like Thomas Dolby's "Ability to Swing," Grady Tate's "Sack Full Of Dreams," and Frank Sinatra's "Wrap Your Troubles In Dreams."

Polly's music directors for her latest CD are pianist and accompanist Tamir Hendelman and James Pearson.

During Polly's performance in New York she was backed by Shedrick Mitchell on organ and keys, Paul Bollenback on guitar, Richie Goods on bass, and Mark McLean on drums.

I had a chance to sit down with Polly to talk about her new record, her musical influences, and how jazz vocalist Ian Shaw played an important role in starting her career.

Resonance Records Introduces UK Jazz Vocalist, Polly Gibbons

Resonance Records is excited to announce the new release Many Faces of Love from UK jazz vocalist, Polly Gibbons, to be released later this year. Polly Gibbons is one of the most respected and talked about young singer/songwriters of her generation. Much esteemed by her contemporaries, Polly has built a reputation as being an original and gifted voice.

George Klabin, President of Resonance Records, talks about his experience working with Polly on her release:

“Producing these recordings with Polly (both the CD and the live performances) could not have been a greater pleasure. In my career, spanning decades, I have worked with many gifted jazz vocalists, but never one with such a multiplicity of talents as Polly Gibbons.

She has a huge voice, impressive range, impeccable pitch, and an innate sense of rhythm. She can be daring, tender, sensitive, humorous, and always in the moment, while making every note sound effortless. Most of all, Polly touches the heart as she tells the story in each song, like all the great jazz singers do.
