there are no more rules.
price knew the consequences of his actions before ever pulling that trigger, a natural gift, the ability to see the big picture, that was always his problem. a third eye, forced to keep it shut for the sake of pretending that there were lines you simply couldn't cross in the job that he was in. he knew it would result in his men being backed in a corner, forced to pick a side: the institution that kept their collars tight, or their captain, their leader, their brother. it was a complicated position, he wouldn't hold it against his team for picking the side of sanity, safety, not after all they've been through - he doesn't. nothing is ever personal, it was all about the greater good, some people have different views on how to get there.
doesn't mean he wouldn't go easy on them, either. he stands by what he did, will do so even if it means going against the very men he has fought along side for such a long time.
even if it meant leaving her. even if it meant forcing gaz and ghost to give her up after just losing soap.
the greater good was bigger than the home that was built. how could price bask in the sanctuary when it was at risk ? when the noose around his throat kept him from ever enjoying it without the worry that something, eventually, would happen.
it was better him pulling the plug than anyone, anything else.
you never see them now, haven't in a too long time. the only hint of activity was the money that somehow ended up in your account, still well taken care of. they didn't need money, the amount given to you would've gone back into the house anyway, it would've been spent on electricity bills, phone contracts, food shopping. the life they had, still preserving your own bubble even if they couldn't protect you from the loneliness that kept you up at night sobbing into your pillow.
you can still feel eyes on you, sometimes. tingles in the back of the neck on a busy street, the feeling of being crowded when alone. it comes and goes. you try your best to ignore it, paranoia, you claim. having little idea that you were surrounded; simon, kyle and john. eyes on you, on each other. a stake out.
there are some rules, because some rules are scripture, to defile would be sacrilegious, he has no desire to add unnecessary sins to his extensive list.
none of them approach you, none of them approach each other. never interrupting their time of watching, because as fractured as they were, the love never faded, never left the little home the five of you created.
