Happy STS!! How do Polynya and Ginia manage their long-distance relationship? I'd love to know more about them! (i'm chauceryfairytales btw!)
hi @chauceryfairytales! thank you for the ask! I don’t talk about these girls often enough!
they send each other bird-dragons a lot! they use Polynya’s albatross-dragon the most. his name is Basil, and he’s very no nonsense and very fast. they send each other letters and care packages all the time!
Ginia is always sending over succulents and air plants for Polynya, and she sends back parcels of salt water tea, and aurora stones. and any time that Polynya is in the Capitol for work, she makes sure to schedule a few extra days to spend with her lovely girlfriend.
Ginia very rarely goes out to visit Polynya, because the severe cold out there makes her leg ache. presently there’s a new technology in the works called Mirrorvision, and while it doesn’t come into play much until the sequel, they do eventually get one of those - this lets them send each other what amounts to selfies-turned-to-gifs of each other.
Polynya’s fish inside of her aquarium actually change colors depending on her mood! when she’s really angry, the turn red and swim around inside of the tank super fast, in a frenzy, and when she’s flustered they go pink and glow slightly and they all rush down to the very bottom of the tank to try and hide!
since i did the head of the Fara Falls Royal Guard for my last post, this time around i’ll be doing Polynya, the head of the Royal Guard in Fields of Fara! i don’t have as much up on tumblr for her, but that’s something i plan on fixing in the coming weeks!
Polynya has been the head of the Royal Guards in Fields of Fara for a very, very long time. she was there during the reign of the Lost Queen, and is harked as the sole reason Fara was able to win the Delta Wars. during that harsh and bloody battle, she racked up nearly fifteen Levels and earned herself the name Queen of the Sea Fire.
a water elemental with a tendency to prefer ice magic, there is virtually nothing that can scratch or break the aquarium that serves as her torso. the colorful fish inside are linked to her emotions, and change colors to reflect her current emotional state; they were black and ice blue through out the duration of the Delta War.
since coming home from the war, and Queen Midnight’s initial rise to power, Polynya has formed a home for herself in the Glacial Cove. she’s dating a paladin that she met during the war, Ginia, and has become something of a face piece for the country. children laud her as a storybook hero, and Midnight takes great advantage of this fact during her frequent balls and promenades.
on a personal level, Polynya just wants to live her life surrounded by the things and the people she has come to love. she’s content making appearences at the Academy and occasionally leading hunts for licorice wolves or the stray humboar. as the whispers of rebellion and war begin to surface, though, and the mysteries of Fara, Midnight, and those faintly there feelings that tug at heer HEART, she must make a decision.
what is Polynya willing to do to avoid leading her country into another war? what lines is she willing to cross to ensure that she’s able to find peace in her golden years?
and what’s more important?
the safety of her country? or the safety of the people that she loves?
in the end, it’s not a hard choice to make.
Polynya will not live and die on the battlefield.

the thing about Polynya is she doesn’t look like much, but that aquarium of hers is tougher than diamond, and her determination runs deeper than a mana line. she will not lose this war, no matter what it brings. she can’t. she won’t. it wasn’t an option when the last queen reigned - it sure as hell isn’t an option now.
the trident hangs above her fireplace: a symbol of every victory, of every Level gained.
the trident rests beside her front door: a mark of fears rising to the surface, of dreams becoming reality.
the trident is in her hands: a sign that she has failed, of her own scarred HEART visible for the world to see.
concept art of Polynya, the Captain of the Guards in Fields of Fara! this is a casual training outfit of hers, rather than an actual uniform of for the guards or any of her personal outfits.
