for once, finley had a reason not to leave. he often didn’t mind traveling, coming and going through cities and towns without making connections or having anyone to say goodbye to. this was different, and so was sadie. for the first time in a long time, he found someone who made him feel less lonely. how could he let that go now? ‘ you could always come with me, ’ fin suggests with a laugh, making it sound like more of a joke than it actually was. when he finally looks up at sadie, his expression is genuine ( almost pleading ). ‘ i kinda just... don’t wanna leave you again. you’re the only person i have right now, ’ finley stevens- always the honest man.     @polytraumas​ ( continued ).

   Zora doesn’t really expect to be understood. There is the surface level getting of what they are saying, but there are also the layers of experience that color it in a very specific way. They are sometimes content to leave things relatively on the surface level - at least when it comes to interacting with someone fairly new to them.

Interesting, but new. “Maybe I will stick around. I’m just.. there are lot of weird things going that it’s hard to parse out. But the idea of just going home when the entire concept of it is .. very up in the air can be a lot to reckon with. “

safety had evaded him for a number of years now, ever since his mother died, and his father began moving him every three months or so. and it wasn’t as if the danger aspect of his career choice made him anxious ( in fact, he was probably too nonchalant about it ), but he was aware, in the back of his mind, that he was never truly safe. not within four walls, nor in an open field. he was always running and fighting and surviving. except when he was in sadie’s arms.

squeezing her around the torso, his head on her chest, fin simply listens to her heartbeat for a long moment, the study thump, thump, thump under her warm skin. he thinks a lot about how he doesn’t deserve someone as kind as her. sadie gives love and never takes anything in return. he takes a slow, deep breath, her scent filling his nose. for once in 20 years, fin feels completely safe. ‘ i know, ’ he finally mumbles, holding her a bit tighter, afraid that she would simply disappear like everyone else had if he lets go. ‘ and you have no idea how grateful i am for it, ’

  The notion of there being no free will is something worth exploring and Zora listens carefully as Aubrey talks. Is there a bit of rambling? Perhaps, but they are genuinely interested in what he says and it’s enough food for thought to be worthwhile.

“Fate, that’s an interesting enough answer. And I get where that comes from. Because many may think there is free will - but they all behave in the same predetermined patterns that show up even across different species even with some variation.“

Zora thinks for a moment when asked about their genuine answer. “I think honestly, for as little free will as there could be, there is enough self-determination that one has to really face both the self and fate whatever that lies to figure that out. Facing who you truly are and facing what may lie before you is key to whatever pathways lie ahead.“
