Author's note: I am weak. I should be focusing on my other Kpdh fic, but the Polytrix family agenda would not leave my head lol. Hope you guys enjoy 😊
Koko Ryu laid awake in her bedroom. For a good portion of the night, she stared at her white ceiling when she should be sleeping. There was just one problem...
Groaning in annoyance, the eight year old raised a hand up to her stomach, idly rubbing it in a vain attempt to soothe the beast. She soon turned to her right side and squeezed her eyes shut. Maybe if she ignores it long enough, then maybe her stomach will get the memo.
Her stomach rumbles again. Yeah, no. She needs to eat something. Koko rose from her bed and made her way to the door. She carefully opened it enough to stick her head out in the hallway, waiting to see if she sees or hears her moms. As far as she knows, the penthouse was quiet and Koko can idly hear her moms snoring further down the hall.
Koko walked down the hall, being careful in not making too much noise. Her moms being trained Hunters is both awesome, in concept, but also quite a disadvantage on nights like these. Their hearing is top notch, keen to the lightest of sounds. *Especially* Rumi's, who has the added advantage thanks to her half-demon heritage. Getting past her moms was not an easy task.
Koko has no proof yet, but she has a hunch that even the Honmoon was against her. One moment she would be alone, and then the next moment one, two, or God forbid all three of her moms have her cornered before she could even have a chance to commit "the crime". Then again, Koko might be reading too much into her theory. After all, she is still very much a baby learning about the Hunter biz.
Once she made it downstairs to the living room, Koko's eyes were drawn towards the couch where a large blue tiger resided. Ears flicking, Derpy slowly opened his eyes and lifted his head to look at his visitor. His pupils got huge the moment he saw one of his favorite humans, a smile making its way up on his face.
Koko had to resist the urge to giggle when she saw him. She silently held a finger to her lips to tell him to be quiet. Derpy tilted his head in response.
Koko looked down at her feet. Sussy was staring up at her with a look that clearly said, 'You should be in bed.'
"I will. After I get a little snack."
The magpie let out a dramatic breath, already knowing that he wasn't going to win this debate. Sussy then turned around before taking flight, flying towards the kitchen. Koko trails after him with Derpy close behind.
Once the trio made it to their destination, the young girl crossed her arms as she contemplated on what she wanted to snack on. It had to be something relatively quiet, so that she wouldn't wake any of her moms. It couldn't be anything cooked either since it would give her late night ploy away. The perfect snack had to be light and filling enough to calm the known beast that was her stomach. As if on cue, her belly rumbled once again to accentuate her dilemma.
Sussy had landed on the kitchen counter, looking at Koko expectantly with a tilt of its head. Likewise, Derpy was looking up at her as he sat down by her side. Both spirit animals are wondering what her next move will be.
Making up her mind, Koko decides on...
Ramen noodles. Her gaze lingers on one of the top cabinets where she knows her moms keep the ramen in. There's just one problem...
Koko sighed. I hate being short.
It was on moments like these where Koko wishes she could be as tall as her Momma Mira. Alas, Koko had to make due and rely on her mediocre parkour skills. Well, she wouldn't outright attempt to do parkour at this hour. That'd be insane.
Taking a deep breath, the young girl laid her hands on the counter and pushed herself up. Once she had a knee on the counter, she reached out for one of the cabinet handles to pull herself all the way up. So far so good.
Koko exhaled and took a breather. Once she was ready, she opened the cabinet. When she did, she overestimated on how far she had to lean back to open the cabinet door, which made her lose her balance. Koko gasps and shuts her eyes, already dreading the impact and the noise that would soon follow her downfall.
Koko opened her eyes when she felt a steady weight against her back. She looked down to see that Derpy had gotten up on his hind legs. He had one paw to support him against the counter and the other helped prevent Koko's fall. From the sidelines, poor Sussy sighed in relief. If he were human, he'd be sweating bullets for this child. That could've been a bad fall.
The lilac haired child sighed in relief as she right herself. She reached down to pat her protective guardian. "Thank you, Derpy."
Derpy let out a happy hum, his tail swishing contentedly behind him. He still kept his paw on Koko's back in case she needed support. Koko was more than grateful for it as she reached for her prize on the top shelf. "Got it!"
Koko also made sure to get a little treat for her partners in crime. It was the least she could do. Thankfully, getting down from the counter was much easier than climbing it. She soon sat crossed legged on the floor and looked over her spoils. A bag of Yakgwa cookies and an uncooked roast chicken ramen packet.
"And now, we feast." Koko declared triumphantly, opening the bag of cookies and immediately gave one to Derpy.
Derpy's eyes fluttered in delight as he savored the sweet honey treat. Koko held back a laugh. Oh, how deeply she regrets having left her cell phone in her room. It would've been a good picture.
Sussy hopped down from the counter, hovering in the air for a bit before he landed on Koko's right knee. He perched on his new spot and closed his eyes, though the last row remained open as it looked at the young girl expectantly.
Koko chuckled. "I haven't forgotten about you, Sussy."
She hands the magpie a cookie, to which the bird graciously accepted with its beak. Sussy proceeded to snap the treat in half and starts to enjoy it. He lets out a satisfied chirp.
The young girl then felt a furry head brush against her cheek. She laughed quietly when Derpy nuzzled her enough to nudge her. She knew what he wanted. "Okay, Derps, here's another one for saving me."
The large cat hummed once he received the sweet and savory treat. He laid down beside her and munched on it happily as his eyes fluttered again. Now pleased, he began to lick his to lips before proceeding to do the same with his paws.
Koko smiled. Now that her accomplices are satisfied, she can now focus on her own snack. She opens the ramen packet and greedily took her first bite. Oh. This was good. This was heaven. Even if it's uncooked, the texture of the ramen was on point. The crunch and the oil that clings to the dry noodles was nothing but a perfect combination for her tastebuds.
Inexplicably, her forbidden snack time filled Koko with a sense of adrenaline. There was just something special about being the only one up at this hour indulging like this. She knows that she shouldn't make a habit of this, but the temptation was just too good to pass up. Plus, she was hungry. She couldn't help herself to try and appease her stomach.
Once Koko was about a third of the way through with her snack, she got startled when someone suddenly turned the lights on in the kitchen. Koko paused mid bite, turning her head to look at her Mami Zoey.
Derpy and Sussy also looked up towards the other human in the vicinity. They both had the deer caught in headlights look, and to their credit they stayed in their spots. Despite being caught red-handed, Sussy dared to eat his other half of the Yakgwa cookie. Might as well eat what was left of the tasty evidence before facing judgement.
Zoey stared in disbelief, looking between her daughter and the spirit animals. Her face was unreadable, until she cracks a smile. Koko raised a brow when she saw her mom wipe a sudden tear from her eye. That's a rather weird reaction from someone who is supposed to be scolding her right now.
"...To think, that I would wake up to see my baby girl in a dark kitchen, snacking in the middle of the night. And with uncooked ramen, of all things..." Zoey spoke, shaking her head as she chuckled. "You really are my kid."
Koko was confused. "Wait, so... You're not mad?"
Zoey opened her mouth, only to close it as she thought about it for a moment. "Okay, technically, I should be a tad upset with you right now. You know, because I should be telling you that you shouldn't be making a habit of this. This habit will mess up your appetite and all that jazz."
Koko held her breath. She knows that her Mami can be the fun and silly parent of her three moms, but there are also times where her Mami can be a mixed bag when it comes to parenting. This could still go either way.
"But! I will not be getting to that tonight because that would make me a hypocrite."
And just like that Zoey headed over to the ramen cabinet and got herself a shrimp ramen packet. She joins her daughter on the floor soon after to enjoy her late night snack.
Koko couldn't help but laugh. "You're crazy, Mami."
"What's crazy is that you still haven't opened your flavor packet. You're missing out, child!"
Zoey crushed her ramen packet right away, making sure a good chunk of it was nice and crushed. Grinning, she opens the ramen bag and fishes out the flavor packet, opens it, and pours it all in. She then twists the opening of the bag closed and shakes it like a mad woman who was betting her last assets onto the roulette table in Vegas, idly forgetting what time it was. Either way, it was comical to see. "And~ Bon appétit."
Her Mami's enthusiasm was infectious, and Koko can't help but follow her lead and do the same with what was left of her ramen snack. And, oh boy, it was worth it. A whole new burst of flavor exploded onto her tastesbuds the moment she added the powdered broth in. Her Mami was right, she was missing out.
Mother and daughter then enjoyed their snacks in comfortable silence. Derpy and Sussy have also taken part in the snack party by indulging on more cookies. At the rate Derpy was going, they might as well treat Yakgwa as catnip for him. His reactions with each bite motivated Zoey to get a picture on her phone, with Koko begging her mom to kindly send it to her phone later.
The party was soon interrupted once again as Rumi stepped into the kitchen. And she, by all means, did not look happy. She wasn't angry either. Just displeased.
The lead singer merely raised her brows and crossed her arms as she looked on at the guilty party. "Having fun?"
Zoey and Koko looked down at their guilty pleasure, only for them to mimick each other by slowly hiding the snacks behind their backs.
Rumi cracks a smile. "Why hide it when I already saw it?" She teases them.
"You're right. Why bother?" Zoey laughs, having her ramen now in the open as she poured another mouthful into her mouth. She chews for a few minutes and then swallows before stating a clear truth. "We've been struck by the munchies tonight. Sue us."
"Suing you would be a lost cause. I know that you're already long gone with your late night snacking. Even before we got married, might I add."
"Yes, here we are." Rumi's smile turned soft, her brown eyes looking at Zoey with adoration. She then glances over at her baby girl, who was poorly trying to hide behind her other mom. "And you, missy, I am surprised that you got the munchies tonight. I thought that you'd be out like a light in bed after devouring your Momma Mira's Bibimbap."
Koko felt her face heat up in embarrassment. The tips of her ears were also red when she looks down at her lap with a pout on her lips. "...I was, but then I got hungry again."
Deep down both mothers had to resist the urge to coo since their baby girl looked so much like Mira right now. So much so that the resemblance was uncanny. The only thing that set their daughter apart from Mira was Koko's purple wavy hair and the freckles across her nose and cheeks.
Zoey wraps an arm around her little one and pulls her close. "And that's okay, you're a growing girl."
Rumi walked over to them, crouching down to cup Koko's face in her hands, but she didn't motion for Koko to look at her. Koko did that all on her own. Rumi's face was soft as she stared at her child, leaning down to lay a tender kiss on her forehead. Koko had a small grin on her face. Small but endearing, similar to Rumi's.
Just then the girls hear some shuffling, and they all turned their heads in time to see Mira walk into the kitchen. And she was practically dead on her feet, but was fighting off sleep anyway.
"Why are you beautiful girls up at this insane ungodly hour? It's like, two in the morning." Mira grumbles. She lazily rubs at her eyes as a yawn takes over.
Rumi chuckles as she heads over to greet her other gorgeous wife. She wraps her arms around Mira's waist and brings her close into her embrace. "You could've stayed in bed, you know."
"Didn't wanna." The dancer mumbles, nuzzling her head against the crook of Rumi's neck. "Bed's empty."
"You are such a big baby." Rumi laughed.
"Hmm." Mira opened her eyes to see—as well as she could without her glasses—the small party that was taking place in their kitchen. "I see that someone got the munchies."
"Oh, it's not just me this time, Mir. Our little Koko got the munchies too." Zoey mentions, idly running her fingers through Koko's hair.
Mira blinked in surprise. "Seriously? And here I thought that she'd be out for the night."
"Nope!" Koko chimed in with a giggle.
The dancer pulls away from Rumi's embrace and headed over to where Zoey and Koko were. She grunts a bit as she crouched down, reaching out to pat Koko's head. "If I didn't know any better, I guess our little chukgu player might be going through a growth spurt."
Koko's eyes shone at the prospect. "You really think so, eomma?"
Mira's face practically glows when she's called eomma by her little one. She would never get tired of it. "You just might. You could even be as tall as me one day."
A yawn escapes through Koko's lips. "I can't wait..."
Mira smirked. "Someone's sleepy."
Koko nods. "Uh-huh. Can I spend the night, moms?"
"Family sleepover, alright!" Zoey squealed. She immediately stood up and started cleaning up. "You obviously got my vote!"
Rumi was all for it. "Mine too."
"Alright, I guess my girls have spoken. C'mere, baby girl." Mira reached out for her daughter, easily gathering her up in her arms.
There was no resistance from Koko as she comfortably laid her head on her momma's shoulder. She closes her eyes and lets out a sleepy hum, smiling when she felt her momma hold her close and kiss the top of her head.
The dancer stood and turned to look at her wives. "You girls ready?"
"We'll be there in a bit. You two can go ahead and get comfortable." Rumi reassured.
"Yeah, now go and put our bebé to bed." Zoey commanded. "We know that you're sleepy too, so go."
Mira fondly rolled her eyes, but did as she was told. "Alright. I'll see you both soon."
"And that's if you're not sleeping by then." Zoey teased.
Rumi and Zoey looked on and watched over Mira as she went upstairs with their sleepy daughter. Once they were out of sight, both women got to cleaning up the kitchen floor.
Derpy had turned into a cookie monster, haphazardly getting crumbs all over the place during the snack party. Zoey and Rumi tried their best to clean up where they could, but evidently their progress was stalled due to the large tiger.
Derpy laid completely on his left side. Awake, but outright refused to move. Even by command, which was surprising because he usually listens, especially to Rumi. She was beside him trying her best to get him to move.
Rumi nudged him, trying to motivate him to get up. "Come on, buddy, we just need you to move for a quick second." She pets his back, behind his ears and even gave him belly rubs.
Derpy slowly blinked each eye and the tip of his tail swished a smidge, but that was it.
"Derpy..." Rumi groaned, buying her face against his soft fur. Despite everything, she still loves the big lug.
Zoey laughed, idly sweeping to make sure they got everything. Well, everything except the remnants that were around Derpy's spot. "It's okay, Rumi. He's probably going through a sugar crash."
Rumi raised her brows in wonder. "Can spirit animals even have a sugar crash?"
"I dunno." Zoey shrugs her shoulders. "I'm not even sure if they necessarily have to eat, but he sure seemed to enjoy the Yakgwa cookies so... Who knows?"
Rumi sighed. "Fair enough. Though, we can't really go to bed without gathering what's left. The last thing I want is ants in our penthouse."
Zoey was about to respond until she saw movement behind her wife. "I don't think that we have to worry about that."
"What do you-" Rumi jumped a bit when she felt a small weight hop on her knee before jumping on the space between herself and Derpy. Sussy was having an after party cleaning up the decent sized cookie chunks that were left.
It was both cute and a little funny that the magpie was even doing this because he always seemed gentlemanly with his mannerisms.
Rumi won't complaint though. That still didn't stop her from teasing him a bit. "I see that even you can't say no to cookies, huh, Sussy?"
Sussy stopped mid peck, staring up at Rumi with a look that clearly said, 'No comment.' before resuming his clean up patrol.
"I guess that settles that then."
"Yep!" Zoey chimes in once she returned from putting the broom and dustpan away. She held out her hand for her wife to take. "Shall we head to bed, my sweet?"
"Yeah, let's." Rumi smiles, standing up with Zoey's help. She then turned her head towards Derpy and Sussy. "I'll see you two in the morning, if you're still around."
Sussy chirps and Derpy hums their goodnight.
Once they left the kitchen, Zoey got closer by hooking her arm with Rumi's, not that Rumi minded. When they arrived to Rumi's room, they found that Mira and Koko are practically dead to the world.
Mira was only half covered by their blankets while Koko seemed to have been the one who kicked it off at some point. Even in sleep, Mira held her daughter close, snuggling for warmth. Seeing the tender moment reminded Rumi and Zoey of a momma bear snuggling close to their cub.
Their snores filled the bedroom, and their breathing did not stutter as Rumi and Zoey settled in.
Rumi settles in beside her daughter, who was currently Mira's little spoon. Rumi took hold of Koko's hand, tenderly kissing the back of it while she grazes the back of her knuckles. Still holding her hand in hers, Rumi snuggles in as close as possible, until her forehead brushes against her little girl's.
On the other side, Zoey settles in behind Mira, spooning her. She kisses the back of Mira's shoulder and holds her close, burying her nose into the dancer's hair while breathing in her scent. Mira grumbled in her sleep, but not enough to wake up.
Before long, all of them were asleep. In the comfort serenity of the night, the family slept until morning and well into the afternoon. Good thing that it was a lazy Sunday.
