A/N: ...My hand slipped on this one. No regrets. I am satisfied with how this fic turned out and I am happy to finally share this with the masses. Our Mira deserves to be treated like a Queen 👑😌
I would love to know what you guys think of this one 🥺
WC: Long boi
Mira laid on the couch, her back propped up by two pillows. She had her arms crossed as she glared at her right leg in disdain. Of all days, of all fucking times for her to get an injury from dance practice and it had to be on the day where her baby girl had a chukgu game!
The Gods, the universe, even her wives were against her. All for the betterment of her recovery.
To be fair, a Grade 2 hamstring sprain was no laughing matter. A partial muscle tear was doable compared to a Grade 3 whole muscle tear, which would require surgery.
Specifics aside, Mira will be damned to miss a special day with her child! However, she will need to do a whole lot of convincing against the final boss... Rumi. Her sweet, awkward and lovable wife, who can be quite scary and in charge when it definitely counts. This won't be an easy task.
Right now the penthouse was bustling with activity. Zoey was practically running around the apartment with their daughter, making sure that she had everything she needed for the game.
Rumi was in the kitchen packing up drinks, snacks, and making sure they had an immediate First Aid Kit on hand. Not only that, but the lead singer was also making sure that Mira would have everything she needs by her side so that she wouldn't be forced to get up unless it was a genuine bathroom trip.
Ever the prepared one. Mira thought fondly with a smile.
Normally, the dancer would assist her wives in moments like these. She would always tag team with Rumi in the kitchen as they prepared the drinks, snacks, and packed lunches. She would always be behind her daughter in making sure that she was properly ready and all packed up for her upcoming game. And Mira would always check in with Zoey to see if her camcorder was charged and working properly, to which Zoey would always respond with a yes.
Mira may not look like it, but she is quite the fan in keeping the family albums and videos going. Any captured and recorded moment with her family, her girls are a precious memory, a treasured gift that Mira will always keep close to her heart.
Just the thought that Mira couldn't go with them this time around is tearing her up inside... She started tearing up without realizing it. A lone tear streamed down the right side of her face before she could even stop it.
"You okay, jagiya?" Rumi asked, concern evident as she left the kitchen. She went around the couch to sit by Mira's side.
"No, I'm miserable..." Mira grumbled, her pout present as ever. Her heart hurt ten times worse than her sprain.
Rumi cupped Mira's cheek, tenderly brushing her tear away with her thumb. "I know, I'm sorry, but I honestly don't think that you would be comfortable standing up throughout an entire chukgu game."
A fair point, but Mira wasn't known for giving up. "I have crutches. They can support me. Besides, we also have our folding chairs too."
"Yes, but nothing to properly elevate your leg with." Rumi countered. "And I'm sorry for raining in on your parade, but according to the weather forecast it's supposed to rain today. You are not going to be comfortable with wet bandages."
"Rumi, please, I never missed any of Koko's games and I don't plan on breaking that attendance now." Mira pleaded for her wife to see reason. That's how desperate she was.
"Koko has been excited for this game for weeks! It's bad enough that we need to juggle our Idol careers just to spend time with her! She's been so good and patient, and all she asked for is for all THREE of us to attend her games as a family. We promised her!"
Clearly, Mira hit the mark with her words of truth. Rumi's face was ridden with guilt just from the broken promise alone.
"Yes, I know. I also know that you hadn't meant to get hurt during practice, but the doctor was very adamant that you should be off your feet, Mira."
"I know, I know, but that still isn't fair to Koko. You know that I hate seeing her upset." Mira groaned, tossing her head back against the pillows.
In part, Rumi can understand why Mira was so stubborn about this. Their own childhoods weren't any better on the alone factor when they were Koko's age.
Koko is only six years old and already she knows what it's like to be alone without her mothers present. Well, Koko wasn't completely alone since Celine tends to babysit her while the girls are away. They would try their best to request some time off just to spend quality time as a family, and they have been lucky that Bobby has been able to accommodate them on that.
The girls always made sure to spend time with their little one as soon as they got home. Rumi fondly remembers the countless nights when Koko was already in bed, fast asleep. She, Mira and Zoey would climb on the bed and they would all snuggle in together and sleep through the night. Sometimes Koko would wake and she'd be so excited to see her moms and the girls would entertain her until she fell asleep again.
Koko always greeted them with a smile, taking their apologies in stride. It was so shocking for them on how their little one could be so forgiving, so patient with having to deal with their hectic schedules. Rumi wants to believe that this time would be no different, but perhaps that's asking too much from a child, who wants nothing more than to spend time with her moms.
Rumi reached out for Mira's hand, tenderly grazing the back of her knuckles. "I do too, believe me. I know that she'll be a bit upset with us, but I also know that she will understand once she has a chance to think it over."
Mira squeezed her hand. She seemed doubtful. "Do you really think so?"
"Of course. She's our little girl, after all."
There was an upset cry from upstairs. Both of them turned their heads to where they heard the commotion.
"Koko, come on, please be reasonable!" Zoey sounded just as upset.
"And be more patient than I've already been? How is that fair?!"
"Look, I know it's not fair, but..."
"I may have spoke too soon..." Rumi sighed.
Mira groaned, burying her face in her hands. "I can't look. I'll crumble if I do."
Rumi chuckled. "You mean that you aren't already?"
Mira nudged her with her good leg. "Shut it."
"Eomma~!"
Pretty soon a little girl ran down the stairs and both mothers were greeted with a very familiar scowl. Rumi had to resist the urge to coo. It was almost hard to believe that the three of them were blessed by the Honmoon six years ago, and now that very miracle was none too happy staring back at them.
Their little bundle of joy shared their brown eyes, of course. Who's shade of brown was still up to a silly debate between the three mothers, but Rumi is confident that she's winning this one. She already won the hair color category. Might as well push for a second win somewhere. Rumi was also sure that her daughter might inherit her patterns too, but at this point in time their daughter hasn't shown any signs of having them. It might happen, it might not. Either way, the girls will love and accept their little one regardless.
Their daughter bears an uncanny resemblance to the dancer, hence the familiar scowl. It was as if a child Mira was standing right in front of them. The furrowed brows, those sharp eyes and pouty lips outright showed her displeasure in the moment, and yet the look itself seems toned down thanks to the cute row of freckles across her nose and cheeks. Zoey was right. Their darling Koko was diabolically cute in every way.
The longer that Rumi stared, the longer Koko stared back. Mira was still hiding her face in her hands, very much whining just by hearing her baby girl upset.
Rumi smiled in greeting. The kind of smile that clearly showed that things were not going as smoothly as she would like. "...Hey, Koko. How are you doing, sweetie?"
Koko puffed her cheeks, which was very Zoey like. "Fine, until I was informed by Mami that Momma can't come with us! I wanted ALL my moms to attend my chukgu game!"
Just when Rumi was going to respond, Mira finally lifted her head from her hands. "I know, baby, I know. In fact, we can all go right now!" She said, suddenly determined.
The tall woman didn't waste any time as she quickly looked around and placed her hands on the back rest of the couch and on the arm rest. She takes a deep breath and forces her body to get up by its own power. An action that should've been easy suddenly became difficult as her leg began to seize up. To her credit, Mira ignored the fiery pain and obvious protest from her sprain as she forced herself up from the couch. The line of fire spread from the back of her knee all the way up to her thigh, almost reaching her behind. Sweat build up on her forehead and her muscles spasmed from the effort, until finally the dancer cried out when the pain was too much to bear.
Rumi was having none of it. "Mira... SIT. DOWN!"
In an instant, Rumi's brown eyes changed to a golden yellow. Her patterns flared a deep purple. Brief, but still present among the iridescent colors. Her pupils narrowed into mere slits as she growled, her authoritive voice carrying a demonic tone that probably would've made Gwi-Ma or even the late Saja Boys cower in her fury.
Needless to say, that tone worked wonders.
Koko suddenly swallowed a lump in her throat and took a step back, her displeasure forgotten. It wasn't Koko's first time seeing her mom like this, which is usually when any of them were out of line. It was still rather scary (and cool) for Koko to witness her mother's demon side like this.
Meanwhile, Mira struck out as her body gave out and collapsed on the couch. More for the inevitable circumstances rather than her wife's scary look, but everyone present knew that that also played a factor on things. The dancer breathed heavily through her nose, biting her lip as she tenderly touched the side of her leg. The pain was unbearable.
Mira had the kicked puppy dog look as she finally accepted defeat. "I'm sorry, kiddo... I'm forced to rest against my will."
Rumi fondly rolls her eyes at witnessing her wife's dramatic antics.
Despite her actions Rumi sighed, her features returning back to normal while she helped Mira get comfortable again. "Well, excuse~ me for being a doting wife. Doctor's orders are still orders so your butt is staying on this couch, Mira."
Mira whimpered. "It's not fair..."
Rumi couldn't help but laugh, cupping Mira's face in her hands. She leaned forward to brush their foreheads together. "You are being such a whiny brat today."
"...You would be too if you had to stay home, all alone while the rest of the family goes out to have fun." Mira pouted.
Rumi scoffed. "Don't be so dramatic, Mir. It's only for three hours. We'll be back before you know it."
"Three eternal long hours!" Mira bemoaned. She took her performance further by drapping an arm over her eyes, laying back against the pillows.
"Um, maybe... It is for the best that you stay, Momma."
Both women gasped, turning their heads in time to look at their daughter, who nervously bit her lip as she stared back at them.
Between the two of them, the shock was much more evident on Mira's face. Rumi was shocked that her daughter suddenly came to her senses. Mira, on the other hand...
"You... You want me to stay?"
The look of betrayal on Mira's face spoke volumes. And her voice... Unrecognizable. It cracked and it shook with emotion. She tried her best to keep it together, but it was hard. It stung. That her sweet, baby girl told her to stay.
Rumi recognized that look. "Mira..."
The cracks in Mira's armor were showing. And fast. "No, no. It's okay. I understand!"
It's deteriorating.
"You girls go ahead and have fun. I'll just stay here, rest and become a vegetable! Don't bother checking this mummy when you get home. I'll be fine."
Yep. Mira's spiraling.
"Mira..." Rumi groaned, closing her eyes and pinching the bridge of her nose. She loves her wife, she really does, but unfortunately the dancer was practically unconsolable on moments like these.
"I just don't want you to force yourself, Momma." Koko was teary eyed. She took a brave step forward and spoke her mind. "You're hurting. I don't want you to be hurt! I want you to get better!"
"Oh..." The dam broke. Mira cries as she opens her arms for her child to fall into. "C'mere, baby girl!"
Mira needn't say no more as Koko immediately ran into her arms and buried her head on her mom's shoulder and began to cry. Mira held her baby so tight that she had no intention of letting go.
"I-I'm sorry, for being selfish..." Koko hiccuped.
"It's okay, baby girl, it's okay. You have every right to be upset, and I'm sorry that I won't be able to go to your chukgu game." Mira pulled away from the embrace to look at Koko properly.
Mira smiled through her tears. "I know that you'll be great out there. Tell you what, when you girls come back, we'll have a family movie night! What do you say?"
Koko grinned. "That sounds great!"
"Good! And with any luck, I think that we can make our family night into a double-feature!" Rumi added excitedly, hugging her daughter from behind. "I'm sure your Mami Zoey will do a fantastic job of filming your chukgu game with some added commentary! That way, your eomma won't miss a thing."
Mira's eyes and smile softened as she looked at her wife, mouthing a silent thank you. Rumi winked.
The lead singer then kissed her little girl's cheek. "Come on, sweetie. We need to get going."
"Okay."
Just then Zoey came from upstairs. She looked bothered, but still determined as she went down the stairs with Koko's game bag in hand. Rumi and Mira could notice right away that Zoey had been crying, probably from the argument they heard earlier.
When Zoey reached the bottom of the stairs, Koko ran over, surprising her Mami with a tight hug. The hug was so sudden that Zoey gasped, almost losing her balance. Thankfully, she didn't.
Zoey sighs and drops the duffel bag in favor of hugging her daughter, mustering up a smile despite everything. "Hey, bebé. Are you doing okay?"
Still hugging her mom, Koko looks up at her with her big doe eyes. Boy, did she look so much like Mira. Serious frown and all. It was so unfair that their child gets to be this cute, Zoey thinks.
"I should be asking you that." Koko said, her gaze unwavering.
Before she knew it, Zoey's smile got bigger as she passed a hand through Koko's soft tresses. "Don't worry about me, bebé. I'll be fine."
Koko shakes her head. She knew better. "No, you're not. I should've been more understanding, but instead I got upset and took it out on you when you were just trying to cheer me up. I'm sorry for being a pill, Mami..."
Zoey's eyes were brimming with tears, making Koko loosen her grip around her waist so that Zoey could crouch down and hug her properly.
Zoey lets her tears fall freely down her face as she holds her daughter close. "You're a tiny pill that I'm willing to put up with. Always." She teased, light but true.
Koko blushes, hugging her mom back twice as much and letting out a giggle. "Does this mean that I'm forgiven?"
"Of course, bebé. I understand why you were upset. I know that our family outing today won't be the same without Momma around."
"Yeah..."
"But that doesn't mean that we can't still have fun, right?"
"Right."
"And you'll shine like you always do and kick the other team's butt!"
"Yeah!"
By this point both Koko and Zoey had huge smiles on their faces, and Mira and Rumi were delighted to see their girls happy again.
Pretty soon came Mira's dreaded moment. Rumi and Zoey double checked to make sure they had everything. Their car was all packed. They even made sure that Mira had her drinks, snacks and medication couch accessible on the coffee table. The less trips the dancer had to do, the better.
And the goodbye's were fleeting, a blur for Mira. Her baby girl hugs and kisses her on the cheek before she sped off towards the elevator.
Zoey absolutely smothers her with kisses—not that Mira was complaining—before ending it was a passionate one, to which Rumi had to interrupt just to get her turn. Zoey laughs, saying something along the lines of 'No regrets' before letting Rumi have her turn. Zoey joins Koko by the elevator soon afterwards.
The lead singer cupped Mira's face in her hands. "We'll be home before you know it." She reassures, a soft promise as she leans in to tenderly kiss her wife.
Rumi smiled and laughed every time she tried to pull away only for Mira to successfully pull her back in for another kiss, then another, and another until Rumi tells her that it was time for them to leave. Mira pouts, but complies. She and Rumi held hands up until the last moment, until their fingers slipped away from each other's grasp.
The elevator doors opened and all three girls got inside. The doors soon closed and the elevator did its descent, signaling their departure.
Mira smiled, closing her eyes. "Have fun, my loves."
Her smile soon falters and Mira carefully positions her body on her left side. She sighs and reaches for the remote on the coffee table to turn the TV on. And so, her boring afternoon begins.
—
The next three hours passed by in a blur for Mira, who was in and out of sleep due to her medication. Every time she managed to open her eyes, she would see something different happening each time. One moment she sees that her favorite TV show is over, the next moment she sees that Derpy and Sussy had warped in.
Mira idly remembers pushing Derpy away, whose cat breath was not appreciated in favor of sleep. Derpy didn't take offense at the rejection for affection and immediately settled his attention on the TV. He sat in front of it, intently watching the moving pictures for who knows how long.
Mira manages to shift onto her back, only for her sleep to get interrupted by Sussy, who decided to perch himself on top of her chest. Mira was too out of it and too tired to protest.
The weather outside was getting worse. Gray clouds were rolling in with light thunder rumbling in the distance. The dancer's heavy eyelids opened after much protest, groaning when lightning flashed in the distance once more.
Wait. Lightning? Mira furrowed her brows, still fighting off sleep. She hears a chirp and when she opens her eyes all the way she sees Sussy tilting his head to get a good look at her.
The magpie chirped again, getting close enough to nuzzle his beak against Mira's cheek.
Mira chuckled, raising a hand to pet Sussy with a brush of a finger. She then felt a weight on her stomach. Looking down, Mira saw that Derpy settled his furry head on his new spot, looking at her with his big 'ol eyes. He is obviously expecting some pets too.
"...Needy, needy boys." Mira sighs, but she still gives the large tiger some well deserved head pats.
Derpy smiles, closing his eyes and he starts purring.
The dancer turned her head towards the windows. The weather outside was getting worse and her girls weren't home yet. That was not a good sign...
Mira pursed her lips, making to get up from the couch. Derpy and Sussy immediately got the hint and got off. Mira reached for her phone on the coffee table. 4:37 PM
No messages. No missed calls from her girls either. Mira's frown cemented on her features, fear and worry starting to take hold. As quickly as those emotions came, Mira soon shook them away with a fierce shake of her head.
Relax, Mir, the girls are fine. They most likely stopped to get some ice cream on the way home. The dancer tried to convince herself.
As if on cue, thunder rumbles in the distance.
Mira bit her lip, her fingers already unlocking the password on her phone and opening up her contacts for her wives' phone numbers. She called Rumi's phone first. It rang, rang, and rang some more. It sent her to Rumi's voicemail.
Not bothering to leave a message, Mira tried Zoey's phone next. It rang a few times, but the results were the same. Straight to voicemail.
"Damn it..."
Mira groans, finding her baby girl's number. She highly doubts that Koko will pick up since chances are her daughter will be tuckered out after a chukgu match, but it was still worth a try. Same. Damn. Results.
The dancer released a breath she hadn't realized she was holding, her hand shaking with a deathly grip on her phone. She reached out for one of her crutches that was on the floor by the couch and headed towards the windows, hoping to see a glimpse of their family car out there in the city. Not that her eyesight was any good for that.
The rain outside was getting worse by the minute.
Mira rested her forehead against the glass. "Please, please be okay..." She whispers.
Mira wouldn't be able to live with herself if anything were to happen to her girls. Her wives and her little cub are her entire world.
Looking down at her phone again, a small smile made its way on her face. The picture set as her wallpaper featured her and her girls on a picnic. Coincidentally, the picture was taken on Koko's last chukgu match two months ago.
Mira remembers that day clearly. It was a warm sunny day with no clouds in sight with a cool breeze that would fool some people into thinking that it was Spring despite the fact that it was Summer.
As soon as Koko's game was over, Mira and her girls headed off to central park. They had managed to find a secluded spot for them to take off their hats and just be themselves, away from prying eyes. They've settled their family picnic under the shade of a tree.
Rumi was relaxed and content as can be, leisurely sitting on the grass with her legs crossed. Her back against the tree with a acoustic guitar in hand as she strummed a tune or two for her loved ones. Mira laid back on the picnic blanket, eyes closed as she simply enjoyed the moment with a gentle smile on her face. She held her little cub close, who was fast asleep after having a good meal. And finally, Zoey laid back against Mira's stomach, a huge grin on her face as she angled her phone just right to take their latest family pic.
It was all so perfect, so serene. There was no place Mira would rather be.
And right now, Mira missed her girls more than anything. Taking a deep breath, she tried calling Rumi's phone again. Just like before, it rang a few times before it sent her to voicemail. That... that did not help to calm her nerves. At all.
The dancer lets out a shaky breath, mildly chuckling as she composes herself enough to leave a message. "...Hey, Rums. Just wanted to call to check on you girls. Call me back when you can, please... Bye."
As soon as the call ended, Mira's arm fell limp at her side, but she still held onto her phone as if it were a lifeline. What else can she do besides wait?
Having no other options, Mira slowly migrated to the couch again. The move took a bit of effort because Mira absentmindedly put some weight on her bad leg.
When she sat down, Derpy and Sussy were by her side and Mira was more than grateful for their presence. She idly watched TV and petted the spirit animals as a distraction from her spiraling mind.
Mira knows that her girls are more than capable of taking care of themselves. They are Hunters, for crying out loud. If they can handle demons, then they can handle anything. Except that, her baby girl is also out there with them...
Her sweet, tiny baby girl, who barely understands a shred of what her mothers do on a daily basis.
Derpy and Sussy jumped the moment Mira suddenly slapped her own cheeks.
"Damn it! Keep it together, Mira!" The dancer chided herself.
No sooner had she sat down and Mira was already up on her feet again, as well as she could be with her crutches. Just when she was heading towards the kitchen to splash some water on her face, Mira froze when she heard the elevator ding. The elevator doors soon opened and in came her girls, all soaked to the bone. Soaked and muddy, but safe.
"...That was too close." Rumi sighed, putting all of their bags down by the entrance. Her arms are going to be sore tomorrow. "Next time, be sure to wear bobby pins to pin your hat down."
"O-kay, I'm sorry! I'll be sure to use the whole dang pack next time!" Zoey took off her floral bomber jacket. It fell with a heavy splat on the floor with how soaked it was. She then turned to glare at Rumi. "Actually, no! I will not apologize! You wanna know why? I cannot control the weather, Rumi! How was I supposed to know the wind was going to literally blow my hat away?!"
Just when Rumi was about to have a witty retort for her wife, Koko's excited gasp distracted her. "Momma, you're up!"
Without a second thought, Mira dropped her crutches and made her way over to her baby girl. Her leg obviously protesting against her actions, but Mira did not care. As soon as her daughter was within reach, Mira immediately scooped her up in her arms and smothered her with kisses.
Koko giggled, trying her best to push her momma away. "Noo, Momma, put me down! I'm muddy!"
"No way, Mudkip! I used bind and there's no way you're getting out of receiving your kisses!" Mira said before continuing to smother her daughter with even more kisses. Hearing her little cub's laughter was music to her ears.
"Baton pass! Gimme some of that sugar!" Zoey chimes in, joining in on the love fest.
Just when she got at arm's length of her wife, Mira pulls Zoey in for a hug and kisses too.
And while this was a heartwarming sight for Rumi's eyes, her thoughts only screamed one thing: Danger, danger, danger! And rightfully so because Mira was starting to sway.
In her haste, Rumi teleported to her wives. Laying a hand on Mira's and Zoey's shoulders, Rumi teleports again. This time to the couch. Once the purple mist cleared, everyone involved whined in mild discomfort, both from disorientation and a not so good landing.
The one that braced the "fall" was Mira, who instinctively held onto her girls as tightly as she could in her arms. Zoey sat on her lap, and the combined weights of Zoey and their daughter... That added more pressure to her leg than Mira would like.
"Whoa... What a head rush." Zoey laughed the dizziness away, almost feeling like she just got off from a rollercoaster. "Still, a warning would be appreciated next time, Rums."
"Sorry..." Rumi apologized while shaking her head. Even she got dizzy. She really needs to get better at that.
"My head is swimming..." Koko whined, laying her head on Mira's shoulder. "I want it to stop..."
Rumi reached over to lay a hand on Koko's forehead. "I'm sorry, baby."
"Oh my gosh, Mira!" Zoey gasped, realizing the position they were in. "I'm so sorry!"
Zoey quickly gathered Koko in her arms and tried to get up, but she was roped to sit down again when Mira wrapped her arm around her waist. "Mira, come on, I can't just-"
"No."
"But-"
"No." Mira held them tighter, adding Rumi into the family hug.
Rumi laughed. "You're so clingy today."
"I am NOT clingy." Mira sounded adamant, but her pout gives her away.
"Oh? Then, did you miss us oh so dearly?" Zoey grinned.
"No..."
Mira's answer sounded pitiful this time around. Damn it. This did not sound like her at all. She can't think straight. Her leg throbbed, and Mira's frown became much more apparent on her features. This is all your fault!
Koko tilted her head, looking at her mother strangely. "Momma, are you... crying?"
"Who? Me? No..." Mira tried to laugh, but a sob came out instead. "You need to get your eyes checked, kiddo."
That sounded the alarms. Rumi and Zoey gasped in unison, bombarding Mira with endless concerns about her leg.
"My leg is fine." Mira rolled her eyes, a fond smile on her face. She missed this, missed them.
Rumi reached out to caress her cheek, smiling when Mira leaned against her touch. "What's wrong then, jagiya?"
"Nothing. It's stupid."
Koko nuzzles her momma. "It's not stupid if it makes you upset."
"Well said, bebé." Zoey praised. "You heared her, Mir. What's wrong?"
"Fineee." Mira did another roll of her eyes, her smile still present. "It's still stupid."
"Please tell us anyway." Her girls said in unison.
Mira didn't beat around the bush, but she still wanted to save a bit of dignity. "I have some demands."
Her wives smiled knowingly. "Speak."
"Demand number one: From this day forth, I refuse to be alone in this penthouse. Period."
"Demand number tw-"
Chu!
All three mothers froze in horror, staring down at their daughter, who sniffled a bit. Koko's face soon contorted as she outright sneezed into her chukgu jersey, groaning after the fact.
Mira grimaced. "Not good."
Rumi's eyes widened. "Zoey..."
"On it!" Zoey quickly rose from the couch, gathering Koko in her arms. "Hang on, bebé! We'll get you into a warm bath ASAP!"
The Maknae ran off to the bathroom as fast as her legs could take her. Mira and Rumi can only hope that their daughter didn't catch a cold.
The lead singer sighed. Not much they could do about it now. "Well, I'd better get a move on too before I catch a cold."
Mira chuckled, but there was no humor in it. "Bobby won't like that."
"Nope." Rumi agreed. She rose from the couch and outstretched her hand as an invitation. "Care to join me?"
"Thought you'd never ask."
"I only asked to honor your first demand."
"How sweet of you."
Once Mira took her hand, Rumi helped her stand and easily scooped Mira up in her arms with little effort. Rumi was mindful of her injury, gently securing her arm under Mira's knees. The dancer blushed, more than happy to let her strong wife take over in caring for her.
Mira laid her head down on Rumi's shoulder, closing her eyes as Rumi was about to go up the stairs.
Rumi smirked. "You okay, Princess?"
Eyes still closed, Mira had a smirk of her own. "That's my line."
"It suits you more, for today."
"You're lucky that I'm enjoying this."
Once they made it to Rumi's private bathroom, Rumi gently set Mira down by the countertop and went to prepare the bath. The water was running and while the tub slowly filled up with warm bathwater, Rumi started to get undressed.
Mira looked on in admiration. With each piece of clothing that fell, Mira got to see more of Rumi's body. While it wasn't anything new, it was a sight that the dancer would never get tired of.
Mira is still in awe on how much Rumi changed. Presumably shy in years past, but that couldn't have been further from the truth, and now the truth Mira sees was nothing but beautiful in her eyes.
Mira wanted to kiss every expanse of Rumi’s body. To caress and kiss each and every pattern she sees, to let her wife know that she was beautiful and perfect in every way. In her trance, Mira barely noticed slipping off the counter. She hissed from the movement. Her sprain is such a nuisance.
The hiss did not go unnoticed by Rumi. Her brows furrowed in concern as she turned to look at Mira.
"It's okay. I'm okay," Mira reassured. Her voice got muffled while taking off her sweatshirt. "I keep forgetting about my stupid sprain."
"Yeah, sure. And I am sure that your sprain isn’t bothering you at all."
Mira sighed. "It's fine, Rumi."
"Mmm…" Rumi cocked a grin. She soon licked her lips when Mira's toned stomach came into view...
When Mira took off her sweatshirt, her eyes widened slightly when she noticed the way Rumi was staring at her. Like a lion lying in wait for a hunt, waiting for its prey to show up. Mira's eyesight may not be perfect, but even she could see the fangs starting to poke out from her wife's lips.
"Come on, Mir. Let me help you. Just this once..."
Mira suddenly became tongue tied. No matter how many times she opened her mouth, no words came out. Not in defense, not even with a sassy retort. Man, she really is off her game today.
Having her exactly where she wanted her, Rumi's grin grew. Her canines are on full display.
Mira gulped. Holy shit. Did her eyes just glow?
It was a blink and you'll miss it, and Mira was sure that she missed it. Rumi soon turned her back to turn off the faucet. The rush of water soon stopped and Mira could only hear her own heartbeat.
The dancer leaned back against the vanity, suddenly thankful for having something to lean on since her legs turned to jelly. When Rumi got close, Mira instinctively leaned in to kiss her, but she was stopped by the singer. A single finger to her lips.
Rumi's cocky smile never left her face. Her eyes were half-lidded as she stared at Mira like a piece of meat. "We should discuss a few things, especially your so-called demands..."
Mira's eyes widened further when she felt two of Rumi's claws trail down her neck, her collarbone, the valley of her breasts...
Oh. The things that this woman does to her.
Mira barely managed to suppress a shiver once those claws made it to her abdomen. Rumi's claws carefully hooked around the hem of her shorts, but moved no further.
Mira's mouth suddenly became bone dry. She whimpers.
"What's wrong, Pretty Girl? Cat got your tongue?"
"R-Rumi..."
Rumi laughs, tugging Mira close to her. The dancer took the movement as an invitation to wrap her arms around Rumi and bury her burning face in the crook of her neck. And Rumi lets her. She simply closes her eyes and enjoys the embrace, hugging back with equal measure.
"Are you going to tell me what's going on?"
"No."
"Mira."
"I already told you. It's stupid."
The blush on Mira's cheeks did not lessen, so much that Rumi could feel the heat radiating off her. While adorable, Rumi was still determined to find out the cause of her wife's "embarrassment".
"Was Zoey right? Did you miss us oh so dearly?" Rumi asked in a way to mimic how Zoey did earlier.
Mira sniffled. "Yes..."
Rumi's teasing tone left immediately once she heard the confession. "Oh, jagi..."
Mira simply held her tighter, deciding to spill her guts here and now to get it over with. Regardless of how much she might be teased for it later. Mira knows that she'll feel better afterwards. She always does after talking with Rumi.
"Those three hours felt like an eternity. I spent most of it sleeping thanks to my medication, but when I woke up... My girls weren't here. The weather outside was getting worse by the minute. I tried calling your cellphones. A couple of times, but no one answered. If it weren't for Derpy and Sussy keeping me company, I would've lost it."
Rumi pulled away slightly, trying to get a good look at Mira's face. Mira kept talking. Her eyes glossed over as her emotions took over.
"Who am I kidding? I was worried sick! For a moment, I thought that you girls weren't coming back."
"Mira."
"That maybe an accident happened, or-"
"Mira," Rumi held Mira's face in her hands. She smiled softly while brushing some of her tears away with her thumbs. "It's okay. We're safe, we're home. And there's no other place we'd rather be."
"Really?"
"Really, really." Rumi brushed forehead against hers. "And, this explains your first demand. More than enough. I can already guess what the second one might be..."
Mira felt the blush return to her cheeks. Her heart fluttered when Rumi wrapped her arms around her waist. "Do you now?"
"I'd say that I know my Pretty Girl well enough by now."
Mira smirked. "Okay then, Princess. What do you think my second demand is?"
"To spend quality time with your loved ones."
Mira opened her mouth, possibly to deny such a thing, but Rumi beat her to it. "And if you think, even for a moment, that you don't deserve to be loved then you're wrong."
Before Mira could even form a retort, Rumi moved much faster. The singer had pulled down her shorts and her underwear, lifting her up on the vanity. Mira gasped from the movement, turning into a moan when Rumi kissed her. She soon relaxes when she feels Rumi caress and massage her calves, taking all the tension away from her injury.
Rumi was relentless, determined to melt her wife's worries away. Her lips soon migrated to kissing Mira's neck, licking and nipping at her pulse point.
Mira sighs and pulls her close, hissing a bit when Rumi gets too excited in marking her territory. "Not so rough, Princess. I'm not your chew toy."
"That's too bad because I enjoy the noises that you make..." Rumi panted, accentuating her point with a trail of kisses. "Each and every one..."
Mira shivers under her ministrations, vaguely aware that Rumi was letting her demon traits show. Rumi's eyes were no longer brown. They were yellow. Her pupils narrowed down to mere slits, her fangs were on full display and her claws were out. Rumi was more than happy to express herself, to draw and decorate on the beautiful canvas that was Mira, to let her know that she was loved and appreciated in every way. And she was hers for the taking...
And Zoey's. But, for now, Mira was all Rumi's. Rumi does not intend to share. Not now.
"Rumi..."
Rumi hummed to let Mira know that she was listening. To every word, every breath, sigh and whimper. She smiled devilishly when she gently nipped Mira's breast, making Mira jump from the suddenness of it.
"Relax, my love." Rumi purred. She slowly dragged her claws on Mira's toned stomach, and she felt Mira unraveling under her touch.
Mira's reaction was beautiful. Adorable. Rumi could drown in her sounds forever. She could just eat her up.
Oh. What a lovely thought.
Rumi licked her lips. "Just sit back and let me take care of you..."
—
Rumi hums contentedly as she went down the stairs, holding a tuckered Mira in her arms. Both girls wore their go-to pajamas to be comfortable in for the night, only that Rumi wasn't wearing her gray hoodie in favor of a tank top. Mira was too exhausted to bother putting on her blue ribbons in her hair to match with her polar bear sweatshirt.
Rumi's soothing melody did not go unnoticed by Zoey, who looked up from her set up for their family movie night. "Hey, my lovelies~"
"Hey..." Mira mumbled, eyes still closed.
Zoey approached them when Rumi made it over to the couch. The singer gently laid Mira down on the couch, setting and arranging pillows behind her head and under her leg to elevate it.
Zoey didn't know what was funnier: Mira's tired response, or the way that Rumi was positioning Mira's limbs as if she was in repose inside a casket. Zoey giggled at the thought.
Hmm. Now that Zoey looks closer... It is weird that Mira was exhausted right now. Her next round of medication was coming up soon, so it can't be that. Maybe their warm bath was too relaxing for her own good, unless...
Zoey gasps dramatically once she finally notices the various marks on Mira's neck and thighs. "You... TRAITORS!"
On cue, Mira's face turned beet red. Yep. That definitely confirms it alright.
Zoey narrowed her intense glare (pout included) towards Rumi, who looked oh so innocent about the accusation being thrown her way. "What in hell, Rums?! I thought we had a truce? Whatever happened to 'Let's wait until she recovers', huh?!"
Rumi put a finger to her lips, looking up towards the ceiling as she thought about her answer. Only to sneer afterwards. She had no right to be looking so smug. "I'd say she rested plenty, don't you think?"
"Bad, bad girl..." Mira croaked in response. She could barely lift her arm to wiggle her finger in disapproval.
"Bad girl?" Rumi's eyes shined briefly. A blink and you'll miss it. "How funny! That's not what you were calling me earlier, but hey, I'll take it as a promotion!"
"I can't believe you, both of you!" Zoey was displeased. "Rums for indulging, and Mir for enjoying. Your greed disgusts me!"
Rumi raised a brow in amusement. "Says the girl who's notoriously greedy."
"Lies! Lies and Slander!" The Maknae exclaimed. The audacity of her girls to think such a thing.
Mira sleepily chuckles. "Yeah, right."
Rumi began to list all of Zoey's offenses. "You always want to try our food, you always demand cuddles, you steal our clothes, even our blankets when we share the bed. Need I say more?"
Zoey's pout intensifies. It was all true, but still. "You're both terrible."
Rumi and Mira couldn't contain their laughter for much longer, and that was fine with Zoey. Their laughter means the world to her. The Maknae's pouty glare turned soft when she looked at her wives.
So what if she is greedy? It just means that Zoey is extremely lucky to be around the people she loves most, and that love grows more and more each day. If you ask Zoey, she's winning. What a bountiful gift this is.
Zoey's heart was filled with pride and she felt compelled to let them know how much they meant to her.
Zoey approached Rumi first, wrapping her arms around her wife's neck. Rumi blushed, smiling softly as she leaned down to kiss Zoey. Zoey soon pulls away, getting up on her tippy toes to whisper something into Rumi's ear. Rumi's patterns flared pink instantly by what was said.
Mira chuckles at the sight from her spot on the couch. Zoey then approaches Mira, gently lifting her head. The dancer sighed contently when the pillow was soon replaced by Zoey's lap. Her eyes soon closed when Zoey threaded her fingers through her hair, massaging her scalp. This was heaven.
"Enjoying yourself, jagi?"
Mira hums sleepily.
"I'm glad." Zoey soon leans down to lay a tender kiss on her forehead. "Just so you know... I do want to play catch up." She whispers.
"Oh, I know."
"You deserve to be treated like a Queen." Zoey claims a kiss from the dancer. "I promise not to treat you like a chewtoy, unlike someone we know."
"I can hear you." Rumi deadpans.
Zoey grins. "I know."
Mira's warm laughter fills the room. Small, but loud enough to be heard by her loved ones. "You both treat me very well. There's no contest here."
And that was true, her girls knew that.
Mira looked around and noticed that someone was missing. "Where's my baby girl at?"
Zoey was about to respond, but was soon interrupted by the pitter patter of little feet that could be heard throughout the apartment along with an excited cry, "Mommaaaa~!"
Rumi's eyes widened in alarm. Their little one was running and seemed to have the intention of performing a dog pile on the couch. While cute, it was bad timing this time around. "Koko, honey, don't-!"
Too late.
Zoey and Mira barely had time to move and know what was happening. Zoey was trapped and Mira was no better in trying to sit up properly. When they least expected it, a tiny weight plopped down on top of Mira, knocking the breath out of her lungs.
"Koko, be careful!" Rumi was fretting. She was about to carry Koko in her arms, but Mira dismisses her with a wave.
"It's okay, Rumi." Mira laughed, breathless as she hugged her daughter back. "If I didn't know any better, someone sure missed me today."
"Oh, you have no idea." Her wives said in unison.
"Yes, I did." Koko huffed, not denying it as she nuzzles her momma. A light blush appeared on her cheeks. "Our family day didn't feel the same without umma..."
"Oh, kiddo..." Mira was on the verge of tears. She held her daughter close, kissing the top of her head. "I've missed you too. All of you. Today didn't feel the same without my girls around."
"We're all together now, and that's what matters." Rumi came over with a large blanket, tucking Mira and Koko in before kissing the top of their heads. "I'll go get the popcorn and snacks started."
Zoey carefully slipped away from her spot on the couch, setting a pillow behind Mira's head again. "I'll go ahead and finish setting up our movie night. The video should've finished downloading by now."
While her wives got things ready, Mira caught up with her little one. "I know that I'm about to see it, but I gotta know. Did the Seoul Dragons win today?"
"Technically, yes. We were in the lead for a while. The game got cancelled thanks to the weather."
"'Thanks to the weather'. It sure sounds like someone wasn't in the zone today."
"I already told you why." Koko pouted, her embarrassment returning. "Oh. I also ate mud." She raised her hands from under the blanket to do air quotes.
Mira chuckled. "That's why I called you Mudkip. You were covered head to toe."
Koko giggled. "That's a good one."
"Thankfully, you didn't track any mud in the house. Your eomma would've been upset."
"Oh, I know."
"And~ finished!" Zoey declared. She looked excited at seeing the video pop up on the big screen of their TV. She rose from her spot, but not before hitting play on her laptop. "Rumi, it's starting."
"Be right there." And true to her word, she was.
Rumi came back to the living room, balancing to two large trays in her arms. One tray contained their favorite snacks, and the other their favorite drinks.
Zoey couldn't help but whistle in appreciation. She soon headed over to assist her strong wife, snatching the snack tray for herself, but not before giving a squeeze to Rumi's biceps in appreciation. Rumi fondly rolled her eyes at Zoey before setting her tray on the coffee table.
Rumi chose to sit by the foot of the couch, crossing her legs as Koko's game began to play on the big screen. Zoey settled on Rumi's left side, immediately cuddling into her side.
It didn't take long for Zoey to wrap her arms around her waist and let her hands wander underneath Rumi's tank top. Her nails traced, tickled, and caressed each expanse of Rumi's toned stomach. The muscles on Rumi's back were not exempt either...
Zoey could barely contain the huge grin she had on her face, silently savoring the singer's reactions to her touch.
Blushing, Rumi had to remember two things: Breathing. And putting the brakes (somewhat). Rumi won't ever say no to skin contact, especially if cuddles are involved. But she also knows that their child was present.
Rumi lightly pinched one of Zoey's hands when they dared to wander too far. "Behave."
The Maknae pouted. "Oh, boo..."
The girls settled down for the night to watch Zoey's recording of the game. At one point Mira starts getting worked up at all the so-called fouls and such in the video. Getting worked up in the sense as if she's present in the actual game.
It didn't take long for the dancer to start throwing insults at the referee's decisions. Rumi and Zoey fondly roll their eyes. They genuinely missed Mira's angry rants. Even Koko missed hearing her umma yelling cheers in the background along with her two moms.
When the recording reached its end, rather abruptly Mira noticed. The game being cancelled due to the weather was no understatement. But now Mira suspects that it was more than that, if recording Zoey's reaction was anything to go by. The shocked gasp, followed by the gasps in the crowd... was a huge tell.
"You girls had to scramble out of there, didn't you?" Mira deadpans.
Zoey flinched. "Yeah... My bad."
Mira sighed, gently trailing through Koko's soft tresses. Her little one was asleep in her arms. "I guess we need to have Bobby search for another little league team."
Just saying the thought aloud made all three of them uneasy. Their little one deserved better.
"Not necessarily." Rumi said, calm as always when her girls can't think clearly. "The weather was not pleasant today. Maybe that will work in our favor. Koko has another chukgu match in two weeks. We'll test the waters and see how things go from there. Whatever happens, we'll figure things out. As a family."
As a family. Mira liked the sound of that.
"Well said, Rums." Zoey kissed Rumi's cheek. "Should we watch some TV for the night?"
Rumi smiled. "That sounds nice."
"And order some takeout too. I'm starving." Mira not so subtly complains from her throne.
"There's no satisfying you, is there?" Rumi teased.
"Not true."
"Yeah, sure."
"Play nice, Rumi. Mira is still our delicate patient." Zoey reminded. "We need to treat her well."
Mira smirked. "You heard her, Princess. You gotta be nice to me~"
Rumi looked unimpressed at being outnumbered by her girls. Even so, she sighs fondly. "The things I do for love..."
It was good to be home.

Late Night Snacking

Author's note: I am weak. I should be focusing on my other Kpdh fic, but the Polytrix family agenda would not leave my head lol. Hope you guys enjoy 😊
Koko Ryu laid awake in her bedroom. For a good portion of the night, she stared at her white ceiling when she should be sleeping. There was just one problem...
Her tummy rumbled.
Groaning in annoyance, the eight year old raised a hand up to her stomach, idly rubbing it in a vain attempt to soothe the beast. She soon turned to her right side and squeezed her eyes shut. Maybe if she ignores it long enough, then maybe her stomach will get the memo.
Her stomach rumbles again. Yeah, no. She needs to eat something. Koko rose from her bed and made her way to the door. She carefully opened it enough to stick her head out in the hallway, waiting to see if she sees or hears her moms. As far as she knows, the penthouse was quiet and Koko can idly hear her moms snoring further down the hall.
So far so good.
Koko walked down the hall, being careful in not making too much noise. Her moms being trained Hunters is both awesome, in concept, but also quite a disadvantage on nights like these. Their hearing is top notch, keen to the lightest of sounds. *Especially* Rumi's, who has the added advantage thanks to her half-demon heritage. Getting past her moms was not an easy task.
Koko has no proof yet, but she has a hunch that even the Honmoon was against her. One moment she would be alone, and then the next moment one, two, or God forbid all three of her moms have her cornered before she could even have a chance to commit "the crime". Then again, Koko might be reading too much into her theory. After all, she is still very much a baby learning about the Hunter biz.
Once she made it downstairs to the living room, Koko's eyes were drawn towards the couch where a large blue tiger resided. Ears flicking, Derpy slowly opened his eyes and lifted his head to look at his visitor. His pupils got huge the moment he saw one of his favorite humans, a smile making its way up on his face.
Koko had to resist the urge to giggle when she saw him. She silently held a finger to her lips to tell him to be quiet. Derpy tilted his head in response.
*Chirp*
Koko looked down at her feet. Sussy was staring up at her with a look that clearly said, 'You should be in bed.'
"I will. After I get a little snack."
The magpie let out a dramatic breath, already knowing that he wasn't going to win this debate. Sussy then turned around before taking flight, flying towards the kitchen. Koko trails after him with Derpy close behind.
Once the trio made it to their destination, the young girl crossed her arms as she contemplated on what she wanted to snack on. It had to be something relatively quiet, so that she wouldn't wake any of her moms. It couldn't be anything cooked either since it would give her late night ploy away. The perfect snack had to be light and filling enough to calm the known beast that was her stomach. As if on cue, her belly rumbled once again to accentuate her dilemma.
Sussy had landed on the kitchen counter, looking at Koko expectantly with a tilt of its head. Likewise, Derpy was looking up at her as he sat down by her side. Both spirit animals are wondering what her next move will be.
Making up her mind, Koko decides on...
Ramen noodles. Her gaze lingers on one of the top cabinets where she knows her moms keep the ramen in. There's just one problem...
Koko sighed. I hate being short.
It was on moments like these where Koko wishes she could be as tall as her Momma Mira. Alas, Koko had to make due and rely on her mediocre parkour skills. Well, she wouldn't outright attempt to do parkour at this hour. That'd be insane.
Taking a deep breath, the young girl laid her hands on the counter and pushed herself up. Once she had a knee on the counter, she reached out for one of the cabinet handles to pull herself all the way up. So far so good.
Koko exhaled and took a breather. Once she was ready, she opened the cabinet. When she did, she overestimated on how far she had to lean back to open the cabinet door, which made her lose her balance. Koko gasps and shuts her eyes, already dreading the impact and the noise that would soon follow her downfall.
But it never came.
Koko opened her eyes when she felt a steady weight against her back. She looked down to see that Derpy had gotten up on his hind legs. He had one paw to support him against the counter and the other helped prevent Koko's fall. From the sidelines, poor Sussy sighed in relief. If he were human, he'd be sweating bullets for this child. That could've been a bad fall.
The lilac haired child sighed in relief as she right herself. She reached down to pat her protective guardian. "Thank you, Derpy."
Derpy let out a happy hum, his tail swishing contentedly behind him. He still kept his paw on Koko's back in case she needed support. Koko was more than grateful for it as she reached for her prize on the top shelf. "Got it!"
Koko also made sure to get a little treat for her partners in crime. It was the least she could do. Thankfully, getting down from the counter was much easier than climbing it. She soon sat crossed legged on the floor and looked over her spoils. A bag of Yakgwa cookies and an uncooked roast chicken ramen packet.
"And now, we feast." Koko declared triumphantly, opening the bag of cookies and immediately gave one to Derpy.
Derpy's eyes fluttered in delight as he savored the sweet honey treat. Koko held back a laugh. Oh, how deeply she regrets having left her cell phone in her room. It would've been a good picture.
*Chirp.*
Sussy hopped down from the counter, hovering in the air for a bit before he landed on Koko's right knee. He perched on his new spot and closed his eyes, though the last row remained open as it looked at the young girl expectantly.
Koko chuckled. "I haven't forgotten about you, Sussy."
She hands the magpie a cookie, to which the bird graciously accepted with its beak. Sussy proceeded to snap the treat in half and starts to enjoy it. He lets out a satisfied chirp.
The young girl then felt a furry head brush against her cheek. She laughed quietly when Derpy nuzzled her enough to nudge her. She knew what he wanted. "Okay, Derps, here's another one for saving me."
The large cat hummed once he received the sweet and savory treat. He laid down beside her and munched on it happily as his eyes fluttered again. Now pleased, he began to lick his to lips before proceeding to do the same with his paws.
Koko smiled. Now that her accomplices are satisfied, she can now focus on her own snack. She opens the ramen packet and greedily took her first bite. Oh. This was good. This was heaven. Even if it's uncooked, the texture of the ramen was on point. The crunch and the oil that clings to the dry noodles was nothing but a perfect combination for her tastebuds.
Inexplicably, her forbidden snack time filled Koko with a sense of adrenaline. There was just something special about being the only one up at this hour indulging like this. She knows that she shouldn't make a habit of this, but the temptation was just too good to pass up. Plus, she was hungry. She couldn't help herself to try and appease her stomach.
Once Koko was about a third of the way through with her snack, she got startled when someone suddenly turned the lights on in the kitchen. Koko paused mid bite, turning her head to look at her Mami Zoey.
Derpy and Sussy also looked up towards the other human in the vicinity. They both had the deer caught in headlights look, and to their credit they stayed in their spots. Despite being caught red-handed, Sussy dared to eat his other half of the Yakgwa cookie. Might as well eat what was left of the tasty evidence before facing judgement.
Zoey stared in disbelief, looking between her daughter and the spirit animals. Her face was unreadable, until she cracks a smile. Koko raised a brow when she saw her mom wipe a sudden tear from her eye. That's a rather weird reaction from someone who is supposed to be scolding her right now.
Oh, how wrong she was.
"...To think, that I would wake up to see my baby girl in a dark kitchen, snacking in the middle of the night. And with uncooked ramen, of all things..." Zoey spoke, shaking her head as she chuckled. "You really are my kid."
Koko was confused. "Wait, so... You're not mad?"
Zoey opened her mouth, only to close it as she thought about it for a moment. "Okay, technically, I should be a tad upset with you right now. You know, because I should be telling you that you shouldn't be making a habit of this. This habit will mess up your appetite and all that jazz."
Koko held her breath. She knows that her Mami can be the fun and silly parent of her three moms, but there are also times where her Mami can be a mixed bag when it comes to parenting. This could still go either way.
"But! I will not be getting to that tonight because that would make me a hypocrite."
And just like that Zoey headed over to the ramen cabinet and got herself a shrimp ramen packet. She joins her daughter on the floor soon after to enjoy her late night snack.
Koko couldn't help but laugh. "You're crazy, Mami."
"What's crazy is that you still haven't opened your flavor packet. You're missing out, child!"
Zoey crushed her ramen packet right away, making sure a good chunk of it was nice and crushed. Grinning, she opens the ramen bag and fishes out the flavor packet, opens it, and pours it all in. She then twists the opening of the bag closed and shakes it like a mad woman who was betting her last assets onto the roulette table in Vegas, idly forgetting what time it was. Either way, it was comical to see. "And~ Bon appétit."
Her Mami's enthusiasm was infectious, and Koko can't help but follow her lead and do the same with what was left of her ramen snack. And, oh boy, it was worth it. A whole new burst of flavor exploded onto her tastesbuds the moment she added the powdered broth in. Her Mami was right, she was missing out.
Mother and daughter then enjoyed their snacks in comfortable silence. Derpy and Sussy have also taken part in the snack party by indulging on more cookies. At the rate Derpy was going, they might as well treat Yakgwa as catnip for him. His reactions with each bite motivated Zoey to get a picture on her phone, with Koko begging her mom to kindly send it to her phone later.
The party was soon interrupted once again as Rumi stepped into the kitchen. And she, by all means, did not look happy. She wasn't angry either. Just displeased.
The lead singer merely raised her brows and crossed her arms as she looked on at the guilty party. "Having fun?"
Zoey and Koko looked down at their guilty pleasure, only for them to mimick each other by slowly hiding the snacks behind their backs.
Rumi cracks a smile. "Why hide it when I already saw it?" She teases them.
"You're right. Why bother?" Zoey laughs, having her ramen now in the open as she poured another mouthful into her mouth. She chews for a few minutes and then swallows before stating a clear truth. "We've been struck by the munchies tonight. Sue us."
"Suing you would be a lost cause. I know that you're already long gone with your late night snacking. Even before we got married, might I add."
"And yet, here we are."
"Yes, here we are." Rumi's smile turned soft, her brown eyes looking at Zoey with adoration. She then glances over at her baby girl, who was poorly trying to hide behind her other mom. "And you, missy, I am surprised that you got the munchies tonight. I thought that you'd be out like a light in bed after devouring your Momma Mira's Bibimbap."
Koko felt her face heat up in embarrassment. The tips of her ears were also red when she looks down at her lap with a pout on her lips. "...I was, but then I got hungry again."
Deep down both mothers had to resist the urge to coo since their baby girl looked so much like Mira right now. So much so that the resemblance was uncanny. The only thing that set their daughter apart from Mira was Koko's purple wavy hair and the freckles across her nose and cheeks.
Zoey wraps an arm around her little one and pulls her close. "And that's okay, you're a growing girl."
Rumi walked over to them, crouching down to cup Koko's face in her hands, but she didn't motion for Koko to look at her. Koko did that all on her own. Rumi's face was soft as she stared at her child, leaning down to lay a tender kiss on her forehead. Koko had a small grin on her face. Small but endearing, similar to Rumi's.
Just then the girls hear some shuffling, and they all turned their heads in time to see Mira walk into the kitchen. And she was practically dead on her feet, but was fighting off sleep anyway.
"Why are you beautiful girls up at this insane ungodly hour? It's like, two in the morning." Mira grumbles. She lazily rubs at her eyes as a yawn takes over.
Rumi chuckles as she heads over to greet her other gorgeous wife. She wraps her arms around Mira's waist and brings her close into her embrace. "You could've stayed in bed, you know."
"Didn't wanna." The dancer mumbles, nuzzling her head against the crook of Rumi's neck. "Bed's empty."
"You are such a big baby." Rumi laughed.
"Hmm." Mira opened her eyes to see—as well as she could without her glasses—the small party that was taking place in their kitchen. "I see that someone got the munchies."
"Oh, it's not just me this time, Mir. Our little Koko got the munchies too." Zoey mentions, idly running her fingers through Koko's hair.
Mira blinked in surprise. "Seriously? And here I thought that she'd be out for the night."
"Nope!" Koko chimed in with a giggle.
The dancer pulls away from Rumi's embrace and headed over to where Zoey and Koko were. She grunts a bit as she crouched down, reaching out to pat Koko's head. "If I didn't know any better, I guess our little chukgu player might be going through a growth spurt."
Koko's eyes shone at the prospect. "You really think so, eomma?"
Mira's face practically glows when she's called eomma by her little one. She would never get tired of it. "You just might. You could even be as tall as me one day."
A yawn escapes through Koko's lips. "I can't wait..."
Mira smirked. "Someone's sleepy."
Koko nods. "Uh-huh. Can I spend the night, moms?"
"Family sleepover, alright!" Zoey squealed. She immediately stood up and started cleaning up. "You obviously got my vote!"
Rumi was all for it. "Mine too."
"Alright, I guess my girls have spoken. C'mere, baby girl." Mira reached out for her daughter, easily gathering her up in her arms.
There was no resistance from Koko as she comfortably laid her head on her momma's shoulder. She closes her eyes and lets out a sleepy hum, smiling when she felt her momma hold her close and kiss the top of her head.
The dancer stood and turned to look at her wives. "You girls ready?"
"We'll be there in a bit. You two can go ahead and get comfortable." Rumi reassured.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, I'm sure, Mira."
"Yeah, now go and put our bebé to bed." Zoey commanded. "We know that you're sleepy too, so go."
Mira fondly rolled her eyes, but did as she was told. "Alright. I'll see you both soon."
"And that's if you're not sleeping by then." Zoey teased.
"Yeah, yeah."
Rumi and Zoey looked on and watched over Mira as she went upstairs with their sleepy daughter. Once they were out of sight, both women got to cleaning up the kitchen floor.
Derpy had turned into a cookie monster, haphazardly getting crumbs all over the place during the snack party. Zoey and Rumi tried their best to clean up where they could, but evidently their progress was stalled due to the large tiger.
Derpy laid completely on his left side. Awake, but outright refused to move. Even by command, which was surprising because he usually listens, especially to Rumi. She was beside him trying her best to get him to move.
Rumi nudged him, trying to motivate him to get up. "Come on, buddy, we just need you to move for a quick second." She pets his back, behind his ears and even gave him belly rubs.
Derpy slowly blinked each eye and the tip of his tail swished a smidge, but that was it.
"Derpy..." Rumi groaned, buying her face against his soft fur. Despite everything, she still loves the big lug.
Zoey laughed, idly sweeping to make sure they got everything. Well, everything except the remnants that were around Derpy's spot. "It's okay, Rumi. He's probably going through a sugar crash."
Rumi raised her brows in wonder. "Can spirit animals even have a sugar crash?"
"I dunno." Zoey shrugs her shoulders. "I'm not even sure if they necessarily have to eat, but he sure seemed to enjoy the Yakgwa cookies so... Who knows?"
Rumi sighed. "Fair enough. Though, we can't really go to bed without gathering what's left. The last thing I want is ants in our penthouse."
Zoey was about to respond until she saw movement behind her wife. "I don't think that we have to worry about that."
"What do you-" Rumi jumped a bit when she felt a small weight hop on her knee before jumping on the space between herself and Derpy. Sussy was having an after party cleaning up the decent sized cookie chunks that were left.
It was both cute and a little funny that the magpie was even doing this because he always seemed gentlemanly with his mannerisms.
Rumi won't complaint though. That still didn't stop her from teasing him a bit. "I see that even you can't say no to cookies, huh, Sussy?"
Sussy stopped mid peck, staring up at Rumi with a look that clearly said, 'No comment.' before resuming his clean up patrol.
"I guess that settles that then."
"Yep!" Zoey chimes in once she returned from putting the broom and dustpan away. She held out her hand for her wife to take. "Shall we head to bed, my sweet?"
"Yeah, let's." Rumi smiles, standing up with Zoey's help. She then turned her head towards Derpy and Sussy. "I'll see you two in the morning, if you're still around."
Sussy chirps and Derpy hums their goodnight.
Once they left the kitchen, Zoey got closer by hooking her arm with Rumi's, not that Rumi minded. When they arrived to Rumi's room, they found that Mira and Koko are practically dead to the world.
Mira was only half covered by their blankets while Koko seemed to have been the one who kicked it off at some point. Even in sleep, Mira held her daughter close, snuggling for warmth. Seeing the tender moment reminded Rumi and Zoey of a momma bear snuggling close to their cub.
Their snores filled the bedroom, and their breathing did not stutter as Rumi and Zoey settled in.
Rumi settles in beside her daughter, who was currently Mira's little spoon. Rumi took hold of Koko's hand, tenderly kissing the back of it while she grazes the back of her knuckles. Still holding her hand in hers, Rumi snuggles in as close as possible, until her forehead brushes against her little girl's.
On the other side, Zoey settles in behind Mira, spooning her. She kisses the back of Mira's shoulder and holds her close, burying her nose into the dancer's hair while breathing in her scent. Mira grumbled in her sleep, but not enough to wake up.
Before long, all of them were asleep. In the comfort serenity of the night, the family slept until morning and well into the afternoon. Good thing that it was a lazy Sunday.
