ddba s2 episode 8 ramblings

spoilers!

- The sadness in Buck’s eyes. The shock on his Fisk’s face, it’s like he actually expected Daniel to follow through and give up BB. Rip Daniel Blake, at least he died doing the right thing.

- “When I was a boy” here we go again. I know everyone makes recurring jokes/memes about that line but I never expected to hear him start a monologue with that again.

- I missed these scenes where Matt was being a lawyer again :<<

- I used to theorize with my brother that Fisk will be the one to reveal Matt’s identity as Daredevil, only for him to out loud say it. I was surprised, really. It’s very dramatic, him proving it to everyone with his stick. I just wish Foggy was still alive for that specific moment.

- Matt kissing Karen in the same room with Heather, damn. Did they ever clarify how Heather and Matt broke up? Because as I recall, he just suddenly went missing for months.

- “Sorry pal, wrong Bullseye.” Love that. Ughh, I need more of him pleaseeeeeee

- Also I kinda expected a longer Bullseye fight scene, especially since this is the final episode but I guess they didn’t do that cuz he’s such a captivating scenestealer

- Idunno why it shocked me when Fisk went missing ”Boo!” on the protesters, that was some jumpscare. Fisk going on a full rampage on civilians. I don’t think a single one survived from that hallway.

- The emotional confrontation between Matt and Fisk after he & Jessica stopped the protesters. “We’re better than this!” Daredevil without the mask, offering grace.

- I have to be honest, I’m not a Karedevil shipper but the final episodes showing them was really good and heartwarming.

- I really thought they (Matt & Karen) finally were gonna be able to rest and out it all away in the past, quite sad because their trio is missing Foggy. And then the police sirens came, I’m not really surprised that they arrested Matt because I’ve already unfortunately seen the leaks beforehand.

- Okay, yes, he looks so fine while being arrested, those biceps? But “I used to be a lawyer” what do you mean they’re arresting him?! He loved being Daredevil but he also loved being a lawyer, come on! 😭😭

- Before I forget, I’m very disappointed in the lack of Kirsten this episode and the whole season. I wanted more of her friendship with Matt and more scenes of her kicking ass in court. It’s like they just reduced her to a background character :<<<

- Luke Cage reuniting with his family. Ellison appearing again and with BB. Dex working for Mr. Charles?! Where is Buck now?! I’m certain he isn’t dead from that gun wound since Arty Froushan confirmed his character is still in season 3. I think Buck’s too talented to be arrested. Also Heather?! Evil heather?! I wonder if she’s gonna go for Karen now that she’s Muse next season

- I don’t know how to feel about this ending??? Mixed feelings??

- I did enjoy this episode. I have my critique on born again and its flaws but I did enjoy these episodes that we got and hope that this series will continue to go on.

- But Fisk in that beach island. Yes, he’s definitely being haunted by what Vanessa said, how he could be on that island with her if they left the criminal world and instead he’s there all alone.

- But seriously, Fisk on that island. While Daredevil is imprisoned??? I know it’s canon in the comics and they’re setting up for season 3, maybe everyone working together to get Matt out of prison. I hope the people of New York will give support, especially now that his identity is revealed

- Maybe Fisk is not in prison because he’s too powerful to be caged, it’ll be a cycle of breaking out and wreaking havoc again. But how is it fair that Matt’s in prison?? Who ordered to have my vigilante arrested? 😭😭

- Here’s to waiting another year again, praying that have more episodes next season. That’s all for now :<<<<

(writing as I watch) spoilers!

- I was literally telling my mom last week that Fisk is likely gonna kill the surgeon. Everyone should flee the hospital at this point— And he’s dead now, well that was a bloody brutal way to die, I lowkey expected him to crush his head but not really surprised with Fisk -_- we saw this coming the moment Vanessa died

- Handcuffed Dex omg POINTITTIES somebody sedate me

- JESSICA HAS A KID?!

- Okay, so Soledad is the nurse, unfortunately no Claire Temple but I feel like she’d rather live her life in peace away from New York than be dragged into Matt’s antics again

- Karen and Matt arguing about killing Fisk and the moral code (guys, I think they’re not gonna be together at the end of this season, definitely not because I still have hope for Kastle)

- “This is not you” are you sure Matthew

- Buck taking on the mentor figure role for Daniel, it’s obvious he’s grown fond of Daniel so he’s teaching him how to survive in this den of lions. I can’t get over that one comment on tiktok that said they’re basically evil mattfoggy TT

- BUCK’S VOICE ughhhh, he speaks so softly and so elegant, that’s how he talks in bed

- Mr. Charles is still such a mystery

- MOTHER JESSICAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. SHE’S BACKKKKKK

- Wow, so Matt knew this entire time she had a daughter, how sweet. MATT’S SMILE when she asked if he’s ready to go cause some trouble, my favorite siblings are back.

- Now hang on just a minute, is this the Fisks’ bedroom?? Did Heather just steal something from the jewelry box? What is going on? I don’t think this is Heather’s room at all because of Buck’s reaction.

- Karen’s wig is so iconic, it looks so cunty. . . nevermind, the wig got snatched

- The undercover avtf (part of the resistance) dude who helped them died, rip. Why is Powell still here? That man is making me rage at this point

- Wesley being included in “the people we love”

- Matt offering Fisk to walk away and leave New York instead of sending him to prison, at this point he has also given up on the justice system (I still don’t understand how Fisk was released from prison in the first place after all the crimes and everyone he killed off. Were we given a proper explanation on that?)

- THEY GOT KAREN WHAT THE HECK THAT’S IT? IT’S OVER?! THE EPISODE FELT SO SHORT??

- I will miss seeing Ayelet Zurer on my screen, she was captivating as vanessa. On a serious note, now that she really is dead, nothing is stopping Fisk from revealing Daredevil’s true identity to the public. I am so scared for Matt, especially after the leaks, it’s very likely they’re gonna do the prison route

- I know this series is focused on Daredevil but I need more of Jessica. We haven’t seen her and Karen interact yet TT. I wonder where she went off to while Matt was fighting Fisk

- Dex ate up that one minute of screentime. Unfortunately no Kirsten and Cherry in this episode.

- BRING BACK FRANK SERIOUSLY WHERE IS HE? (possibly driving a car over spiderman idunno)

- episode 4 and 5 were top tier but I’m curious on what happens next. TWO EPISODES LEFT. MY HEART IS NOT READY.

Spoilers!

- Have I mentioned before how I love ddba’s intro theme so much? I know it’s like a reprise of the original main theme from netflix but this just sounds so heavenly. I do wish the view on the reverse-crumble animation of the daredevil statue would twist/turn around so we get the back view of the silhouette like in the og intro, anyways—

- The way me and my brother had a simultaneous girl scream when we saw Elden Henson’s name in the intro. Emotional seeing Foggy again on our screens, this can’t be the last time pleaseeeeee

- okay so Vanessa’s still here. . .

- BB and Daniel hug! Okay, so I think they truly were close friends that cared for each other (and still do) but BB’s girlboss-manipulating him. I’m sensing that he kinda likes BB so Daniel please wake up and switch to the good side while you can. Daniel and BB’s relationship reminds me of how girls grow up with the sweetest boy among their friends only for him to grow up into something you hate

- “I’ve earned this many times over. It’s okay” DEX BABY STOP BREAKING MY HEART

- how did Dex’s voice literally get that deep?! I know years has passed but damn, I’m getting wet over here. Seriously compare it with his scenes from the netflix season 3, the difference?!

- ddba season 1 we had matt hairpulling dex, now ladies and gentlemen, for ddba season 2 we have matt choking dex against the wall

- FOGGYYYYYYYYYYYY (do you guys know the tiktok sound and emote going FIYEROOOOOOOOOOOO, that’s literally me)

- Oh my fucking god. Foggy dead wife montage, I repeat, Foggy dead wife montage.

- Man, I badly miss those cunty little glasses that Matt used to wear.

- FOGGY THE FEMBOT?????????? And what do you mean Murdock and Nelson?

- okay, these flashbacks— ugh, they’re everything. It made me realize how much I miss the old lighting. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the aspect ratio changes and even the switching to blue tint for bullseye. . . BUT if they had started out ddba season 1 with the original color grading/lighting, it truly would have made it feel more connected to the og series.

- okay, pause the episode, I already figured since season 3 netflix that dex was kinda suicidal, there’s no denying that after the gun scene in his apartment. And while yes, he had problematic actions, there is no denying that he was a mentally unwell man who was trying, HE WAS TRYING until Fisk manipulated him. That is why he clung so hard to Fisk after the fbi made him a scapegoat and caused him to nearly lose his job, he clung to Fisk because he needed purpose— ofcourse, we all know how badly that ended

- still, in ddba, especially this episode, he’s so insistent on being left alone to die, how the scales are balanced I AM NOT OKAY

- okay switch topic because I cannot cry my eyes out and give myself another physical headache, I’m so attached to this character it’s giving me heartache too

- “I don’t have a problem with feet” UGH OKAY?! That was unexpected, that was something I did not expect to hear. MATTHEW MURDOCK THE FREAK THAT YOU ARE STATING YOUR POINT WITH FOGGY, friendship so deep he’s comfortable clarifying to Foggy that he doesn’t find it gross. Matt Murdock with a feet kink is canon everybody

- I miss these moments whenever Matt and Foggy would speak lawyer language even tho I dont understand what the terms mean, it’s just so hot and so calming even if they are arguing, it’s music to my ears (I’m so sad we can’t have them arguing again ‘cuz they killed him off)

- The moment foggy said “mercy” I knew it was gonna be the central theme connected to his future killer

- I can’t get over how Buck and Wesley are already friends during the events of daredevil (netflix) season 1. How close were they? What is the history between them? Buck personally calling him “Wes”, did Fisk ever call him that???

- Daniel panicking the moment he saw Buck with the murder supplies, something out of thriller movie. For a moment, we thought Daniel was gonna get buried alive TT. Now who is that in the trunk because that certainly isn’t BB? Thank goodness, but seriously who? Cuz it seems like a man.

- HANG ON, BUCK’S HAIR IN THE FLASHBACK. AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO FINDS HIM ATTRACTIVE?! I never expected to see this fine british man in those casual clothes

- Vincent D’onofrio as Fisk is just spectacular. He was absolutely made for this role. The way he looks like the sweetest santa claus in real life but manages to be so evil on the screen. Fisk’s voice cracking up. The amount of times my brother pointed out his voice change. They’re evil but oh my god, Vincent is so good at humanizing Fisk it nearly made me tear up. The flashbacks?!

- Oh fuck. Vanessa’s dead now. Like really, really dead. Killed off. Goodbye.

- Now I’m fearing for Matt, because what is stopping Fisk from revealing his identity now that Vanessa’s gone? He’s gonna go batshit crazy now, having false hope that she’s already fine and then dying right after, should have probably let the nurse check her pulse the moment she woke up

- And here I thought episode 4 couldn’t be topped

- my mom and granny watched the intro with us up to the diner scene, they were literally flabbergasted while I was sitting there holding back my giggling HE’S SO AHHHH—

- The intro was just so great, seeing dex being domestic was everything baby be domestic with me. That focus in his veiny hands while he’s cooking, the biceps, the tank top, the sweatpants that sexy ass, the workout routine and the fake name he specifically chose for himself is Tony BWAHAHAH

- seriously he finished that banana milkshake in one sip? me next please

- dex checking the utensils at his side and the lobsters in the tank too, the very stuff he uses against the avtf, he’s so methodical

- I never thought I’d hear dex curse and say Frank Castle’s name while prank calling luring out the AVTF

- “That was a great milkshake”

- Removing the balaclava in disbelief because someone seriously brought a dog to a restaurant, he’s such a cat lover

- cracking up ‘cuz at first I thought he was stealing the ketchup for himself only to paint the bullseye logo

- I love Matt and Karen, but not in a relationship (kastle for life)

- I hate the AVTF so much, pissed me off so much when they made a mess out of Kirsten’s office. They better not lay a single finger on my girl Kirsten, istg—

- The way Buck speaks so calmly even as Fisk is shouting, UGHH BUCK YOUR VOICE. The way he raised his hands at first then immediately shot down the men with bigger guns. The wink?! He really is their knight

- Matthew Lillard is so entertaining as Mr. Charles

- I never thought I’d see Matt in that kind of uniform

- Dex using the church bells as his alarm clock. I seriously need to know what music he was listening to on his walkman

- “One good deed!” The apartment confrontation with Matt. “I needed to get my mind back” VANESSA WHEN I GET YOU VANESSAAAA—

- Love that Bullseye really is going on a redemption arc, even if it’s in his messed up way. Wilson Bethel is so underrated, his portrayal of dex is such perfection, he deserves more flowers

- Great, now he has to find a new hiding spot. I wish we got to see a front view of him riding that motorbike with that goofy ass helmet

- Matt, seriously, at this point even Frank might agree with Dex in eliminating Fisk, the head of the snake after all

- Am I only one who thinks Daniel is sorta into BB? Daniel, please wake up and stop being his fanboy.

- Them using old scenes of child Matt from the og netflix series, oh I’m crying. Fisk using Fogwell’s, the place that holds one of Matt’s special memories with his dad, you sick bastard— Also, did Fisk kill the other guy in the boxing ring?

- Matt seriously interfered, not surprised

- NOOOOOO DEX GOT SHOT?!??! (What if the shirtless scene from the teaser trailer is him cleaning up his shot wound?)

- Oh my gosh? They actually did kill off Vanessa. . .

- Hang on, the symbolism?! Vanessa’s outfit in her first scene in this episode was red, then her last outfit was pure silky white (almost like a wedding dress) only for it to be soaked in blood AHHHHH

- Alright. . . so far, this has been my most favorite episode. I am still processing this.
