He felt stupid. Daiya Oowada, the great (ex) leader of the Crazy Diamonds, felt stupid. He had agreed to take Mondo and his friends to the nearby pool, much to Ishimaru’s nagging (”Oowada-san you must come! It is good exercise!”) but here he was just sitting on a nearby bench. He had waved off their demands that he come swimming, saying he would come in later and that he just wanted to relax for a bit, but the real reason made him feel like a wuss. 

He couldn’t swim. Sure, he could stand around in the shallow end but once the pool got too deep he was sure to drown. He never had the chance to learn growing up, and he sure as hell wasn’t gonna take classes now, that’d be way too embarrassing for him. He was soon snapped from his thoughts, however, by a sweet voice asking him something. “Oh, uh, sorry little lady. What was that?”

Daiya fished around in his pocket as he strolled down the empty sidewalk, searching for his lighter to light the smoke in his mouth, the only sounds around him being the occasional car driving past and the cawing of a nearby crow. 

“Where the hell is it?” He grumbled, unable to find the small lighter. He cursed under his breath when he realized he must have left it at home, removing the cigarette and shoving it angrily into his pocket. Daiya was clearly too focused on his smoke situation as he wasnt looking ahead, clumsily bumping into someone much smaller than him. “Whoa! Sorry there, had my mind somewhere else! You alright?”

Daiya pushed back the hair that had flopped in his face from the rain, his breathing finally evening out back to normal. Those weird kids in the bear masks were damn quick, and the man would rather not resort to violence against children. “This place has really gone to the dogs...er, bears.” 

 All he had been searching for was a place to rest, he knew that Future Foundation place might not take kindly to him, thought at this point it was near impossible for him to even get to. For now he would have to stick to alley ways and abandoned buildings. He finally came across what seemed to be a run down shopping centre, managing to slip past the weirdos in the masks he promptly made his way inside, just letting his guard down when he heard something rattle. “Oi, who’s there! I ain’t in the mood to fight dammit! Come out!” He shouted in no particular direction, desperate for just a moment of rest.

"Will you just drop my age and go on one measly date?"

Daiya let out a frustrated sigh, running his fingers through his expertly styled hair. “Look kid,” he huffed. “I appreciate it, really i’m flattered, but you’re in high school! Not only would it be illegal to do /anything/ to you, but it just wouldn’t feel right!” He had been asked out a few times by the boy, and thought it broke his heart to see him sad, he was 25, and 25 was much too old to date someone still in secondary school.

“Hey there lil lady, what’re you doin out so late?” The gang leader sauntered up to the girl, an unlit cigarette in his mouth. “It’s dangerous out here, you’re on gang territory.” He flashed her a grin, pulling a lighter out of his pocket. “Need me to walk you home? There are some creeps who hang around here, don’t wanna see anything bad happen to ya.”
