비행기에서는 틀면 바로 잠들게되는 영화보다는, 잠깐 볼 수 있는 다큐멘터리를 찾아보는 편인데, 파리행 비행기에서는 오직 퐁피두 센터에 대한 이야기만을 담은 2시간짜리 다큐멘터리가 있어 긴 러닝타임에 고민하다 보게되었고, 그저 미래주의적인, 내부 구조가 노출된 외관이 매력적이라 느껴 빡빡했던 파리 일정 중에서 지나가다 보는 건축물에서 내부 전시도 꼭 관람해야 하는 건축물로 일정을 수정하였다.

다른 관광지를 포기하고 퐁피두센터를 꼭 관람하겠다고 선택한 그때의 나를 칭찬한다. 그곳에서는, 내가 평소에 좋아했던 예술가들을 우연처럼 만나 가슴뛰는 순간들이 많았다. 우연히 들른 카페에서, 내가 좋아하는 음악을 듣는것과 같은, 아니 배의 설렘이다.

현대미술을 관람할 때에는, 작품을 먼저 보고, 이해하려 애쓰고 난 후에 작품설명을 보는데, 몇몇 작품들이 내가 좋아하는 예술가의 작품과 닮았다 생각 하였고 모든 예측이 다 맞아떨어졌다. 그리고 그럴 때마다 전율을 느꼈다. Dennis Oppenheim, Dan Flavin, Krzysztof Wodiczko, Richard Serra. 그리고 여러 건축가들.

도서관도 있으니 이곳에 산다면 매일매일 출석하듯 들리고 싶다. 나를 설레게 하는 건축물, 공간이다.
