I just wanna appreciate for a moment the fact that Pomni clearly has such a high threshold for forgiveness and understanding.

In "They All Get Guns", despite everyone's attitude towards Jax, and the way he treated her in "Candy Carrier Chaos", she's not scared to give him a chance. She's thrilled at the end that they've connected and doesn't hesitate to embrace him. Even after he pushes her away and says horrible things to her, she keeps reaching out to him, checking on him, trying to include him, to encourage him to take her hand and escape with them.

This isn't out of naivete, quite the opposite. She can see the pain he's trying to hide, maybe even more clearly than he sees it. She's got so much love in her heart, and she's so unashamed about it. She doesn't take anything at face value or take anyone for granted. She loves openly and fiercely.

I really think Pomni is the only one capable of worming her way into that rabbit's heart. If Jax could only mature and return even a fraction of what she gives, they'd have something beautiful. But she understands that he's not ready and/or is too scared, and she doesn't punish him for that or pressure him. Whenever he's ready to open up, she'll be there.

"You just. Don't. Listen!"

That line being the breaking point for Caine really demonstrates the dilemma between the AI mind and the human mind. This was particularly insulting to him because from his perspective, it’s not true. He’s always listening. He never stops listening. He has heard every single word every circus member has ever said, and proved that by using their private conversations against them. From his perspective, the accusation was completely unfounded.

Of course we know that what Pomni meant was “you don’t understand” or “you fail to comprehend the deeper meaning of our words”, but thats an implication only a human could grasp. To his mind, “Listen” = the physical act of hearing them speak, which he has been doing non-stop despite his obvious discomfort it brings him.

Imagine you work a job where you have to smile non-stop every hour you’re on the clock, so you do, and then one day your boss screams in your face that you “never smile”. Of course you’d be insulted, of course you’d scream back “can you not see I’ve been doing that this entire time!?” But “smile” actually meant you have to be genuinely happy in order to properly perform the job, and all you’ve been doing is holding a stiff facial expression. But you didn’t know that or weren’t capable of genuine happiness, but regardless, your boss is technically correct.

That’s the situation Caine is in. To a human, listening and understanding is as natural as breathing, but from Caine’s perspective he’s being asked to do something physically impossible and completely alien to him. Obviously that doesn’t make him torturing the humans okay, but if you were forced into the above scenario, wouldn’t you want to lash back at your boss too?

I just love how unashamedly chaotic and wild Jax is. The second he wasn't forced to be vegan anymore he bolted off and ate his double like an animal

No hesitation whatsoever, and Pomni's little giggle in response and expression of slight embarrassment at getting caught is just too precious

slight spoilers for the last act, showtime relevant

I have to be honest.... showtime as a ship never really appealed to me, for several reasons. The obvious power imbalance, Goose stating after that Christmas promo that Pomni would "never give Caine a gift", (implying that she hates him), Caine being more innocent and obnoxious than a child, etc....

But after the changes in the finale, I can absolutely see it potentially working now. Caine has been voluntarily disempowered, he's been humbled, he's apologized, but most of all, there really isn't any difference between him and the humans anymore. There never was, since they were technically never human, just ai running off a human brain scan. That obviously makes them more sophisticated in terms of their psychological and emotional complexity. But now that the veil has been lifted and they can see themselves for what they are, and use their digital abilities the same as he can, there's real potential for equal footing. I can legit see a romance possibly blooming between them in their new dynamic, and honestly? I'm into it

On the one hand, I generally dislike arbitrarily assigning specific familial roles to the characters within a found family story....

But at the other hand, Kinger is dad for real

I imagine there must have been a moment where Jax was delighted with his situation. Goose says he didn't react well when he first entered the circus, but we can see by the photos that he eventually settled in, at least in a way. Whatever he did or whoever he left behind in the real world, he's desperate, desperate to never go back and face them/it. But he didn't have to, even if he wanted to, he couldn't.

There may have been a time in the circus where he had his friends, Kaufmo and Ribbit, he had Ragatha and Gangle to mess with, he had the adventures to keep him busy, and best of all, there was no going back to what he left behind in the real world. No job, no responsibilities, no consequences for his actions, just endless play and pranks with his friends. He loved it, it was the best thing that ever happened to him.

Then one person abstracted... then another... till eventually he lost Ribbit, and something broke. Jaded and cloaked in denial, he neglected his friendship with Kaufmo, and before he knew it he was gone too. But of course it wasn't going to last, of course it was going to end up like this. But for a moment, just a brief moment, he was finally happy.
