Pondhawk (a dragonfly species) have a larval stage, called a nymph, which is a vicious underwater predator before metamorphosis. Dragonfly nymphs have a jaw that can snap forward to capture prey.

I managed to grab this little guy while they were resting on a leaf at like (maybe?) 3AM. Any idea what species they are?

Thank you for letting me know your location in your other message! It's difficult for me to say for sure what the dragonfly is without being able to see the markings on the thorax, abdomen, and wings. Best educated guess would be a pondhawk in the genus Erythemis. And what a beautiful wolf man! I love them both :)
