idea for an MLP AU under the cut
okay so in this the roles of Celestia and Luna are switched
like they're still in charge of their respective celestial bodies
Celestia's still Princess of the Sun and so on and so forth
but over the years, Celestia's power kinda goes to her head and she becomes really kinda...tyrant-y...but Luna doesn't really notice because she's never really awake when Celestia's doing tyrant-type shit, as she's the Princess of the Night and stuff
and one evening, Luna wakes up from a day of sleeping (because she's stayed up all night) to discover that the sun is still directly overhead
she confronts Celestia about it and Celestia refuses to lower the sun
Luna tries to reason with her but to no avail, not wanting to fight her older sister, Luna retreats into the Everfree to try and figure out a way to resolve it peacefully, and discovers the Elements while there or something
but that takes a couple of weeks and by then, the sun's pretty much burned all the crops and there's a massive water shortage and the ponies have either died of heatstroke or escaped into caverns or heavily forested areas
but anyway Luna returns in a blaze of glory and kicks her sister's flank to the sun
Luna then takes over and runs the government and shit, ponies are still more active during the day rather than the night, but they don't fear the night because they know that Luna's watching over them or something like that
and then a thousand years later, during a Mid-Winter festival celebrating the longest night of the year, Celestia returns and tries to take back over
and that's where Twi and Co. come in and save the day and
