OUTSIDE PERSPECTIVE. ( always accepting. ) Steve Rogers when he walks around New York the first time since being unfrozen - @marvelmyriad.
a woman pulls her son along the streets of the small town. there's never much happening there. never anything to speak of aside from a fender bender. not too far outside of new york. low key. the perfect place for a man frozen in the ice since the 1940's to see the modern world for the first time. nat really did have the best ideas when it came to all this.
' billy i don't have time for this! we have t'pick your sister up in thirty minutes. ' a strained voice of a woman appearing to be in her late thirties. the young boy perking his attention before hurring to match pace as to not be drug down the street. it's when they're at the crosswalk , waiting for their turn to cross ... that little billy sees him.
his mother isn't paying attention. she's fishing for something in her purse. but billy's always paying attention. always watching. and as he looks across the street , standing on the other side ... no other than captain america himself. he's seen pictures before. his dad's shown him the card collection.
reality might have been a little hard for the kid to know for sure , but it's the smile from the incognito captain that proves it's him. he's not gone. he's right here. that smile , it's warm. encouraging. just like on the trading cards. he looks nice. kind. the kind of person that little billy's always looked up to. he waves , and steve smiles a little brighter , moving as though he were chuckling , before giving a casual wave.
a small hand raises to point across the street , in time to see the blonde hold his finger up to his lips , before turning with a red headed woman to duck behind the streets.
' that's captain america. ' he said confidently. ' huh? ' the mother looks up , then in the direction he's pointing , only to find nobody there. there's a deadpan look , before a tired huff leaves her. the signal for them to cross changing. ' don't be silly billy. captain america hasn't been seen in a very long time. '
