Gosh, that would suck uhhh let's see, Impa would be a disaster because she'd find him first. Gosh. She'd blame herself forever. Zelda would blame herself, she'd be clueless as to what happened, like how did he go from the man she knew to being so lost he would--

As for events, geez, they'd be in a pickle. >.< Link is pretty integral to keeping the royal family safe, and though even the nobles would be shocked by the news they would definitely take advantage of it. Zelda's problems would absolutely multiply. I don't know if she'd be able to hold it together all that well. She'd probably stay on the throne but she'd have to become a lot more ruthless, she'd be extremely protective of Sonia, and naturally she wouldn't have any more kids, so Orik and Missa would have never been born. Sonia would have grown up a very different woman, far more reserved and cagey and wary like her mother would turn into.

I think... she might make it, but Hyrule wouldn't be as well off or united because all her energy would be going to keeping the nobles at bay. Sheikah tech probably would've stalled after what they put together in the war because Zelda has other priorities. And when Serenne did their coup in Malice's Stain she might actually just lose the crown. :(

The Sheikah themselves would be super protective of the queen and princess, and if some infighting broke out between Sheikah and nobility, I don't think anyone would say anything about it. They'd very likely blame them for Link's death, and he was beloved by them after he became the Hero and then the King.

As for Hemisi, oh she'd be devastated. And pissed. Girl might actually go to war with the nobles herself. How that would end for the Gerudo, I don't know, but oh she'd kill them if she thought they'd contributed to his choice. Not to mention she'd probably hate Zelda forever.

All in all, it would, uh, be a mess. Poor everyone. :(

“Go ‘way, Ponds,” Link said in a quiet voice.

“Why? ‘fraid to talk about it?” Ponds jeered. “Softie Link, no-scales Link.”

He gave Link a harsh shove, one so abrupt that Link was thrown to the ground. The three of them laughed, and Link felt his face warm.

“That’s all you’ll ever be, soft and stupid,” Ponds jeered, his friends nodding. “Like all Hylians. I’m surprised the Chief even lets you stay here.”

“I’m not stupid,” Link said as his face grew hot. “And other Hylians aren’t either!”

Ponds abruptly kicked out at Link, his foot catching him in the ribs. While Link was distracted by the hit, he then lifted him up and shoved him back against the tree, Link grunting as he hit it.

“Yes they are,” Ponds smirked at Link. “And you’re stupidest of them all.”

“Leave me alone, Ponds!” Link demanded, trying to wriggle free from his grip. Ponds held him tight though, claws pressing uncomfortably on his shoulders, and Link kicked his legs at him.
