Looking at the Ever After, the GOL and the GOD have a, shall we say, history, of unloading their responsibilities on others. See the Cat as exhibit A.
They took Salem's desperation to revive Ozma as an excuse to leave Remnant [and break the moon] then bought Ozma-as-was back as the GOL's 'chosen one'. Meant to unite humanity so the gods will spare the world. But... what then? They SAID they'd come back to live there, but I sort of doubt that based on previous history.
Any bets they'll come back just long enough to split Oscar and Ozpin and then try to force the latter to become a new god?
Especially if I'm actually right that Ozma gave humanity and the Faunus auras and semblances...
What if Salem and her whole arc was an excuse for the gods to try to find a replacement?
