i think thomas hardy's novels would all have been a lot happier if he had known about lesbianism. instead of all the heroines dying or ending up miserable and married to miserable men it wouldve been like. and then bathsheba and her maid kissed and she realized the stability of partnership and independence from men werent mutually exclusive and they ran a successful farm together and they lived happily ever after instead of "it couldve been worse"
