THE DEMONIC GOATMAN OF THE HAUNTED POPE LICK TRESTLE - Spanning Pope Lick Creek - in the Fisherville Area of Louisville, Kentucky - is a massive Norfolk Southern Railway train trestle (90 ft. high with a 772 ft. span - built in the early 1800s) that Urban Legend holds is a haunted and cursed location which is frequented by a bizarre, demonic creature known as "The Pope Lick Monster." Alleged to be a grotesque "half-man, half-goat" satyr-like beast, the "axe-wielding" Cryptid Manifestation at Pope Lick purportedly lures it's "trance-controlled" victims onto the active trestle - where they are unable to escape the frequent freight trains - and are struck and/or plummet to their demise. Legend also holds that such unfortunate victims now haunt the cursed trestle alongside the Infernal Beast that lurks here. Ghostly paranormal activity has been reported. A number of deaths - by train or fall - have occurred here over the decades, the most recent having taken place in April of 2016 when a paranormal researcher was killed while unsuccessfully trying to avoid a train crossing the trestle span (the police tape from this tragic incident is still visible at the location). The Pope Lick Monster Legend has been written about in a number of cryptid/paranormal tomes and in numerous publication articles over the years. The Legendary Creature has also been explored in several documentary works, including "The Legend of the Pope Lick Monster" (1988) and the "Ozarks" episode (S1:E3) of Destination America's "Monsters and Mysteries in America" (2013) monster-hunting television series. Does such a Supernatural Creature truly exist in this accursed (yet alluring) place filled with such tragic misfortune and dark mystery? Only those who have dared to cross the trestle's sinister expanse may say, for sure, if something has crossed over from the Other Side.
