life was pretty solitary when you were the only human amongst all monsters. i mean -- sure, the surface had tons of humans -- but they did their best to avoid them. chara preferred to be by themselves if they had the option; the only human in a group of monsters was a role they were content with. but, they had to admit, stuff got pretty lonely. that wasn’t even mentioning all of the things flowey had put them through -- it was hard to keep one’s flowery disposition after all of that. they were sure anyone would agree with them there.
“you can talk to me.” such a simple offer; one that is very kind too. she would have expected nothing less of papyrus -- always willing to offer his friendship to people, even when they didn’t deserve it. they took a few silent moments to think over that, looking at papyrus expecting .. something else. in a way, they thought that they should be hated by everyone for what they did. but then again, frisk && asriel should have been too -- but people didn’t remember frisk; and asriel was still held in high regards as a golden child. hmph. golden child their foot.
❝ oh .. ? well -- thank you. ❞ chara offers, seeming to have struggled with the response they gave there. it was hard for chara to connect to people on such a deep level as this -- even if talking about things was a basic part of life -- they were assuming papyrus meant it in more ways then to simply talk about the weather. ❝ you have anything specific in mind? uh .. maybe you could teach me how to make a puzzle trap. i’ve always liked those. ❞ perhaps they’re changing the topic, who cares?
