The #sound of the #breeze to though the #poplartrees - that's my #happyplace ... especially on windy days You may not get to hear it too clearly in the video, but I know it's there. The flash of their #leaves to & fro, sparkling up the sky - it's #nature #glitter ! :) It reminds me of being in #PortFranks ... #upnorth , this sound goes hand-in-hand with the sound of the waves on the sand. #memories #childhood My parents planted this #poplar on the property, when they built this house. I have a Tulip Poplar Tree right behind the barn! State tree of Tennessee!🙌😃 I can see why! But here’s a bit more about that: “The tulip poplar was designated the official state tree of Tennessee in 1947. The tulip poplar was chosen “because it grows from one end of the state to the other” and “was extensively used by the pioneers of the state to construct houses, barns, and other necessary farm buildings.” (Tn.gov) I found that interesting, along with this: Yellow poplars, Lombardy poplars and hybrid poplars sound like they should be similar, they are not. They are not even the same species. Hybrid poplars is actually a term that applies to quite a number of hybrid Populus clones. In fact, the Lombardy poplar is actually a hybrid, although it is not usually grouped with them. Yellow poplars, Liriodendron tulipifera, are not even in the same Populus genus as other poplars. It is actually part of the same family as magnolias. They are also known as tulip trees, tulip magnolias, tulip poplars and whitewoods.
