Hi there! I'm looking for advice/success stories about modifying the shape of printed acrylic charms. I have some old single-sided charms that I was going to toss out but have decided to repurpose as pins. I need to sand off/remove the little charm loop that was cut as part of the original design. Any tips for doing this successfully?
Kiriska: Hmm, sanding down acrylic would take forever, I think.
Cutting it might be more effective, though probably just as difficult given the small size. Various video and text tutorials come up if you google “cutting sheet acrylic” or similar, but most recommend some pretty heavy duty tools like table saws. You might be able to access such tools at a local maker’s space though. You can sand it down after cutting it to smooth out any roughness.
Personally, I feel like that’s a lot of effort though. It might be easiest to simply place the charms into grab bags or a discount bin, and perhaps encourage customers to do DIY projects themselves, rather than putting it on yourself.
Followers, feel free to chime in with your own ideas!
ETA: Got some good comments on this!
