he knows you like it and at first, he’s giving you smiles on purpose. likes to see the way you blush and get a little shy when it’s directed at you.

but then he’s slowly smiling more and more unconsciously. you just bring it out in him. he thinks you’re funny and kind. it’s not a façade like his, you’re genuine in all the ways he’s not.

so he asks you out. takes great pleasure in seeing your face light up, cheeks flushing and eyes practically sparkling.

dex is a perfect gentleman, takes you out to a nice restaurant and walks you home afterwards. he even kisses you, a surprise to him but it just feels so natural with you.

i’m under the belief that dex is heavily inexperienced but has dated before or at least tried to. he’s a good looking guy and i doubt he didn’t have at least a handful of people interested.

though none probably stuck around long enough for anything much to happen. i’m always bouncing between dex being a virgin or having actual sexual experience. i really think it’s a bit of both that equates to him just being pretty inexperienced

the two of you start dating and dex eases right into it. he’s a little surprised how easily you fit into his life. you don’t doubt the lies he tells you, blissfully unaware to his nightly outings.

i think as time goes on, dex plays himself right into the role and is eventually like ‘oh fuck’ because it’s real and he isn’t quite sure what to do with that.

he’s sharing more of himself with you, keeping his walkman on when you’re around, letting you trace the scars across his body.

he’s short circuiting when you trail your fingers down his spine for the first time, so gentle and so sweet that it nearly makes him sick.

you don’t ask him to talk about it, letting comfortable silence stretch between the two of you as your fingertips feel the rods under his skin.

let’s not even think about what he’d do if you run your tongue along the scar-WHO SAID THAT????

because i think dex is pretty guarded with that stuff, things that are actually his and personal. so when you quietly ask what he’s listening to after months of dating, he’s scooting closer to you and slipping his headphones off.

he gently places them over your ears and the sound of The Smith’s overtakes you. dex is watching you intently, stomach turning with the unaccustomed feeling of nerves.

but then you smile, head moving along to the music and his chest feels like it could just about burst.

this is a lot more on the wholesome side which i adore but you absolutely know that the relationship would get real unhealthy but I love writing about that just as much 🤭

i am also a believer that he is mostly inexperienced and honestly he probably has had sex before but he probably like. didn't enjoy it that much and just did it because it is one of those things you do or just like didn't care. idk. it would be very different for someone he is so... invested in!!

he probably wants to know what his partner is into more than anything else and just so happens to discover what he likes along the way kind of thing.

dex stalking fem!reader who has no established routine and is very private, stressing him out almost everyday. He knows how most of it goes, and how you are always rushing out of your house to take the bus/subway on time, always forgetting something or to do something. You who abandoned going to coffee shops, now preferring brewing your own coffee to refuel during the day, meal prepping for the whole week instead of ordering takeout. going twice to the grocery store to buy groceries for the whole month.

dex knowing you have multiples hobbies but you cannot seem to have time to spend time on them. dex who cannot find you on social media.

dex who cannot seem to approach you because you only leave home when its necessary 😭

very self indulgent, but I would love to see how dex would try to introduce himself when he knows little about you though, he knows much more than other people

Totally not projecting but Dex with a reader that just loves to tease him? Making dirty jokes and annoying him just to see his cheeks heat up from all the attention???

literally had a whole response typed up and then my phone took a shit.

but ddba!dex is so used to making people feel a certain way, scared, uncomfortable, uhh dead -- and when people make him feel a certain way, it's like, annoyed, or murderous, or obsessive to the point of infringing on most aspects of his life.

but a hornybaiting/ragebaiting reader is frying me because now he just has someone telling him he walks like it's heavy or jumping on his back because their feet are tired and they don't want to walk and he NEEDS to carry them and pressing so many kisses to his face.

i don't think he minds the attention being drawn to him, but i think he isn't used to being in control of the attention. so maybe it makes his stomach twist and his cheeks heat up but he probably just makes him addicted to the feeling because it's something new.

fbi!dex would probably be more likely to do this compared to ddba!dex, but both can leave reader unintentionally hurt through his very heightened emotions or his. lifestyle. and also like the fact that either way, no matter which era, having a healthy relationship isn't really like, possible. so. reader is bound to be emotionally hurt somehow.

if physical harm happens to reader, either from him or by someone from his night job, i can see him being trying to be more physically affectionate. i know there is potential for him to be afraid to touch them if he intentionally hurt reader but i just feel like maybe that would press him to do it more?? he wants them to instead associate his touch with good things. idk.

if it is emotional, he might relent on areas he wouldn't before, like going out after a certain time or space but he is probably watching reader, let's be so for real.

How do you think dex would spiral about learning a new obsession he has is married (unhappily or happily up to you) ?

omg are u inside my walls. me and a friend were talking about her dex oc and she potentially was gonna be in an unhappy marriage. i love giving headcanons for my friends oc's lol.

but i thought it would be interesting to think about dex with a non romantic interest with someone who is married and i still think he would have a problem with it. idk. if you were happy, he could probably bare it for a while but it's also just an issue for him because he needs you and if ur dumb partner gets in the way, that's like, an issue.

romantically, if we are talking fbi!dex era he might even try to move on (fails to do so) and if you're friends and he meets their partner, he'll even be nice. but he will probably find things he doesn't like about them, not even particularly because he thinks he's better than them, but just because he is so into his obsession (you) he is just in this hypersurveillance mode.

he would probably accidentally kill your partner out of anger, as in, he can't possibly contain himself anymore. or later on in the season, he would just do it, something pushes him over the edge, maybe something they say about you idk he can't get over it.

ddba!dex is this whole other story. your partner is just an obstacle and even if we are operating on the belief that he is inexperienced romantically and sexually, he is probably just going to pursue you anyways.

Dex and the closed doors rule 😭 he's about to implement the most random rules ever: no locks on the phone, always warn before going somewhere,

i don't know what he is scared of. reader has a traumatic brain injury, i'm not sure how an open door would prevent her from stubbing her toe or whatever, but he is not rational. obviously.

definitely yes to the phone idea, especially when he's feeling -- neglected (reader agreed to go to a dinner with old coworkers to see if any memories are triggered... which is neglectful because he's not there and they're with other people). he just wants to see what they're saying about him after the fact!! if he even lets them go idk. but he will probably say that it is something they did before and guilt reader, saying they can go through his phone too.

i've been thinking about whether he would feel guilty about all the lying, because i am caught between going towards the idea that he wants to be with someone he can be himself with versus giving himself an idealic life even if he is lying and masking all the time.

tony!dex who catches your attention as one of your unit neighbors. he’s kind, soft spoken, and quite charming.

he helps you carry in your groceries, holds the door open for you, and has even walked you to your car on a few occasions where you didn’t quite feel safe.

you’re falling hard, heart rate spiking every time he sends you a smile. it’s a stupid, pathetic crush but it persists no matter what you do.

dex takes notice of the slight changes you make. how you’ll linger slightly by your door in the morning if you hear him coming out of his apartment. the baked goods you leave in a small container outside his door with a colorful post-it note stuck to the top expressing your thanks for his help.

it’s endearing to him, the sweet little ways you try to get just a bit closer to him. you’re respectful though, never pushing and always considerate.

it’s a sheer contrast to the way he gets close to people and that’s what ends up fascinating him. how two things can be so similar yet so different.

so he matches those changes with his own. memorizes your schedule so he just so happens to bump into you in the hallway or on the street, allowing the two of you to walk home together.

he gives you his number, says it’s good for neighbors to be able to rely on each other. he’s absolutely using your name and number to find every single social media account you have.

he studies them, pieces you together like a puzzle. what your favorite restaurants are, where you go when you want to get away from the world, the bookstore you go to every week just to look. it’s all intel that dex tucks away into his mental file of you.

he’s walking you to your car more often than not now, citing the unrest in the city as a concern though it’s truly just a ploy to get closer to you. his favorite thing to do is brush a hand against the small of your back as you walk. the flush that creeps onto your face is priceless.

you’re none the wiser of his overall plan, simply giddy to have his seemingly undivided attention after so long of pining.

dex concludes that having a girlfriend might not be so bad. it might even help maintain the normalcy he’s been striving for.

i have so much more for this version of him. he’s so so fun to analyze and write for but plsssss give me your thoughts on him too because i hardly see anyone talk about this side of him ♡

so like, i really enjoy that there is this small little part of him that we see more with fbi!dex where he craves normalcy that we can kinda see a bit with tony!dex. why the hell did he feed his neighbour's cat? he didn't need to be doing all that.

imagine you come to him all worried about the avtf and SOMEONE just killed a bunch of them in a diner, not that youre particularly sympathetic, more so, there is someone capable of doing that only a few blocks away, kinda scary. it is just better if he walks you to your car.

when he sees you going out late to just grab something near by, conveniently, he is taking out his trash and offers to go with you.

also just like imagine you start texting him a lot, pictures of things you see that you think he'd like, stuff like that. and he'd probably have a 404 error over being gifted a cd for his walkman before putting on that hung smile.
