5 Best Surf Spots in California
California tops the list in the nation for surfing and can accommodate surfers at all stages —beginners, intermediate and advanced. Gather up your friends, co-workers or family members and go “ For Surfing .”
Here’s a look at California’s memorable surfing spots, whether you want to catch a wave yourself or observe some of the world’s best surfers.
1. SALT CREEK BEACH
It's a paved lot, but the Point, Middles, Gravels, and ROTP (rights of the point) still hold a consistent and clean wave. If the waves are no good, there are always plenty of OC housewives to play frisbee with. Before hitting the beach you should check weather condition by visiting Salt Creek Beach Cam & Surf Report
2. THE WEDGE
The Wedge should have been rightly named “The Beast.” After all, Newport Beach’s world-famous bodysurfing and bodyboarding wave is an absolute animal. It forms during south swells when waves refract off the rock jetty, then slam into a second incoming wave.
3. MALIBU BEACH
Malibu has ideal waves for longboarders and short boarders. You’ll find people of all ages along with beginners and highly experienced surfers here. This iconic beach bears the name of “Surfrider Beach,” where the movie Gidget was filmed.
4. HUNTINGTON BEACH
Also known as Surf City USA, Huntington Beach is the ultimate surf spot for many. It gained its popularity throughout the years as home to the Annual World Surfing Championships. Before going for surfing please check out water temperature and weather condition by visiting Huntington Beach Webcam & Surf Report.
5. MONTEREY BAY
When the waves are good, a serious community of surfers gathers around Lover’s Point, at the southern end of Monterey Bay’s vast sweep. Winter brings the best ride when the waves – and locals – are not to be messed with by all but the gnarliest boardsmen.
