I often think about that actually.

A long while back I was hospitalized with an infection. I ended up getting sepsis. They had to throw every antibiotic they had at it. Including one cool one that made my pee dayglo orange. Which is very trippy to see glowing orange pee come out and being like, “No, this is fine.”

After a few days when I was finally getting better, the doctor told me if it was only a hundred years previous, I would be dead. No one in that era could have survived that kind of an infection. And that just blew my mind.

I didn’t get injured. I didn’t go to war. I wasn’t in an accident. My body just turned on me and tried to kill me. And I just wondered how anyone managed to live to old age back then. Almost everyone’s longevity was based on pure luck.
