Portfolio 2 Evaluation
This portfolio for me I think has been the most stressful because there was always something going wrong or not quite falling into place as I would have liked, but in saying that knowing I got it done there is a sense of accomplishment about it because I managed to sort everything out in the end and it all worked out.
Documentary and Fashion Major were my two favourite briefs from this block. Documentary because I got to create something by myself and come up with the idea, source the models and shoot it pretty much the way I wanted it to, and through that I’ve learned a lot of my own independence and not to be afraid to ask people for help - no matter how personal something could be. Fashion Major was another one where we got a lot of freedom to go and do our own thing and I enjoyed that and the final images and prints I ended up with. It was just really nice to get to create a bunch of looks and styles which pushed and challenged myself to do something different and not quite in my comfort zone.
Editorial fashion in a specific style was also really fun to do because I ended up making the head piece for that shoot and working with a group of new people that have then went on to become a core part of my group when I go out on photoshoots now, and that was something that I didn’t expect.
The circle of people I’ve not only met but have went on to help and be apart of projects this block has been bigger than I think ever before, and it’s really cool to see who’s been there and up for helping me throughout everything.
The part I liked least this block was hyper reality, simple because I didn’t quite see the point in why we would be needing this later in life, and also I didn’t feel like it was explained very clearly when we went over it. I was always a little confused when it came down to that, and no matter how many times I asked it just never seemed to get cleared up quite enough for me to properly understand what I was doing.
