It was such a beautiful sunset on July 16th. I can’t wait to go back and see the sunset across the water and stumps again. . . . . . . #florida #portstjoe #floridaphotography #hashtagflorida #floridalife #sunrise_sunset_photogroup #sunrise_and_sunsets #sunset #sunsetlovers #raw_florida #vacationflorida #sunsetphotography #sunsets #sunsetlover #sunsetporn #sunset_pics #sunsets_oftheworld #sunsethunter #sunsetsunrisemagazine #naturescape #yourshotphotographer #canonphotography #canonr6 #instagood #beachlife #beachvibes #beachday #engagementday #engagement #stump (at Cape San Blas, FL) https://www.instagram.com/p/CVGWMKVLcuR/?utm_medium=tumblr

“Let the big ones live!!!!!” “If we don’t start self regulating and conserving all of mother nature’s gifts, they will soon be gone. If you truly love the water and want to cherish it forever. Then LET THE BIG FEMALES GO!!! This fish weighed 18 lbs and was full of eggs, hundreds or thousands of eggs. Let’s all do our part and protect them.” @saltwater_obsessions #SkinnyWaterCulture #swcGuides #SaltwaterObsessions #PortStJoe #BookNow #CatchNRelease #Tripletail #StopBeingTheProblem #StopBeingSelfish #EducateYourselves #BornWildLivinFree #NightOrDayBlueSkiesOrGreySWC https://www.instagram.com/p/CDaKOPRA8Mr/?igshid=sxg6vsnqeig9

I’m so happy to have a poem in this new anthology, Local News: Poetry About Small Towns (MWPH Books). “To Come of Age in a Mill Town” is the opening poem in Brackish (Aldrich Press 2013). Written as a response (in some ways) to Richard Hugo’s “To Die in Milltown,” the poem weaves together imagination and lived experience in a kind of tribute and a kind of elegy to #PortStJoe, Florida, where I grew up, a town that has changed so much over the years that it scarcely resembles the fishing village/paper mill town of my youth. Still, if writing poems has taught me anything, it’s this: memory creates its own kind of truth.
