Pretty much. People tend to forget that just because you’re part of a minority doesn’t mean you can’t be also privileged and problematic. POC can be insensitive and ignorant. But that’s a really hard concept to grasp for some ;)

You would have thought that P*sey, someone who is very good friends with an openly bisexual girl (Halsey) who faces a lot of biphobia every day, would know better than to make such immature, ugly jokes, but no. Astounds me how stupid he can be.

but it’s not just Halsey who he hangs with, also Jeff, Colton and Max are gay, the latter two have even talked about the struggles of coming out when they did just that. And then Teen Wolf is also a show that constantly praises itself for being so great when it comes to queer representation, Posey right at the front patting his own shoulder. So you’d think he’d have at least the slightest bit of understanding and sensitivity when it comes to topics like that. But no. He’s just sorry he got caught and called out for not thinking.

Maybe someone should tell him, that the world is not like Teen Wolf, that in this world queer people do face discrimination, hate, violence and that they do more than just pine and make out. But hey, queers are only background props anyway, aren’t they..

absolutely nothing! And I don’t know, my guess is that in their weird logic ‘not mentioning BLM’ = racist = DOB = DOB fans = anti Scotts => “having the moral high ground over those nasty racist mayos” ? That’s the only thing I could come up with. OR they just used a random, current social issue.

And yeah, hypocrisy is what they do best.

But like, an actor (who’s not active on SM anyway) choosing to not express political/social views on SM isn’t comparable with an actor that decides to actively make a statement about a social issue, and chooses to do so in a really offensive way. So there isn’t even an argument here.

I don't get why Posey Stan always bring up DOB when something like this happens and it's always the same old "you're white fav is so much more shittier so stfu" like I had to read w/ my own two eyes how some Stan said that DOB never said anything about blacklivesmatter and therefore doesn't care about it and I just don't understand what this has to do with the disgusting joke Posey made?? Like why do they try to always lower DOB to let Posey look "better"

It’s like a reflex for them by now. And I absolutely don’t get it. They hate that DOB ‘overshadows’ Posey, but yet they can’t see them separately. And they also assume that everyone against Posey must be a DOB stan, which in their eyes makes any argument invalid.

And yes, bringing up BLM makes absolutely no sense. But that’s what you do when you have no arguments supporting your cause. You try to distract from the actual topic.

There is absolutely no reason for DOB to be mentioned in this whole thing.

So many people are just like 'he screwed up once but don't forget he's a POC actor, I'm sure if Dylan would have done that you wouldn't call him out like that, everyone just waits for actors of color to make a misstep' and - it's not just once? He did this for attention so obviously, same as so many other things, it's kinda cringy? And you know, Dylan didn't do that, that's a thing? Typical Posey Stans. Every time he does it they pull the same excuses.

And the thing is, when Dylan & the stolen artifacts happened he was called out by so many people, stans included. I can’t remember anyone outright excusing him and saying ‘oh he’s just a silly guy who does ridiculous stuff like that!!’, sure, people stuck up for him and didn’t want the hate to get out of hand, and that’s okay! But they didn’t just brush it off.

But the thing is, this doesn’t have anything to do with Dylan anyway! Not one thing! And I wish the day would come that those two don’t get compared anymore, but I think the world will end before that happens.

I’m not buying it for a second that Posey meant to support LGBT people with that. It was a joke. Nothing more. You cannot tell me, that a guy like Posey, who knows gay celebs, who’s part of a cast that has brought out like half a dozen Charity-T-Shirts and a show that has raised money for several causes, couldn’t think of a genuine way to support a cause he cares for. Hell, he could’ve written a song if he just wanted to spread some love! Anything but this fratboy shit.

At the rate Posey and his fans are going, I wouldn't be surprised if he someday killed a guy and his fans continue to talk about how he's just misunderstood and 'we're used to him doing crazy stunts, he had good reason' 🙄 because it's cute to make a joke of something people get beaten and killed for. - anon with the step-dad

This just made me think of Donald Trumps ‘I could shoot a man on 1st Ave and wouldn’t loose one vote’ and a shiver went down my spine! Now I’m not equating Posey to Trump, not at all (and I don’t think Posey could kill someone either), but Posey Stans are just as blind and devoted as Trump followers are. They find an excuse for everything he does, even if it’s a really bad one, and even if they are part of the group that just got hurt.

And I just don’t get it. Posey is not a child, he hasn’t done this for the first time and he should know better. There’s just no excuse for this.

since I couldn’t reblog the post but had already written this lengthy comment:

How on earth does it excuse his behavior if he repeats it over and over again? That is exactly why people are so mad! He’s joked on the expense of gay people countless times so obviously people’s patience with him will wear thin and at some point it just stops being ‘quirky and funny’ and it starts being ‘ignorant, insensitivy and immature’.

Posey is NOT a teenager, he’s 25, he’s an adult and 100% responsible for the things he says. He should know how to handle Social Media and the press and how much influence his words can have. It’s his damn job, he’s been doing it for years now, and you’d think he had enough slip ups already to learn from then.

You’d also think he’d have at least the slightest clue about lgbt+ issues, considering that two of his (former) cast members have come out as gay not too long ago, and have both talked about being closeted and how hard coming out is! But haha guess Posey is just such a fun goofball, we just can’t expect of him to think about serious topics that don’t center around himself, right?

This apology is too little too late, really just sounds like ‘I’m sorry I got caught’. If Posey wants to be that fantastic leader he talked about being at SDCC last week, he finally needs to grow up and think BEFORE he does things, not after. There’s a million things he could’ve done to support LGBT+ people, spread love and inspire others, like charity, selling a T-Shirt, a fundraiser, a heartfelt video message, a song, you name it. He could do those things. But he decided to make a joke, and a bad one.

So no, no one needs to cut him any slack for the problematic things he decides to put out there until he genuinely learns from it.
