*(It's not exactly a lavender marriage / lavender engagement because there's a lot going on with it- namely Cygne wants to have sex with Mauvi despite not being attracted to Mauvi** and Mauvi sees Cygne as like her pseudo-sister despite being actually kinda physically attracted to her [like she thinks she's objectively a beautiful woman and wants to make her happy/ be affectionate to a certain extent but not.... like that... you know?])
*soz about all this, 19th century social dynamics kinda difficult when ur trans character is basically only out to a few of the other characters ect ect.
**The different sexualities of the characters is a bit confusing to explain but Cygne is basically only actually sexually attracted to Yvette because of the weird parasitic individual and hyphae relationship thing, but she does just try and seduce her way into getting people to obey her. Mauvi's bi tho. No fucking clue about Yvette. She's sapphic but would say she is bi despite never having any sort of attraction to men- she perceives it as less sinful I guess.
*(Mauvi trying to cover up she murdered a guy (not even a spoiler it's basically the starting point of arc C- she fucking killed Seur Durand. For reasons that get too far into Mauvi lore, but it's basically not even a mystery we all know she fucking murdered that 'random' psychologist who Ine had hoped to catch the second-opinion of before he finished his stay with Mauvi in Verdier.)
*(I'm so sorry for Cygne's dialogue she tends to talk very... superfluously... on purpose...) (Context if you'd believe it : Yvette escapes from Ine, who brought Yvette across state-lines [read : kidnapped] to have her evaluated by Seur Durand, (a psychologist) who Ine knew was staying with Mauvi- who is Ine's benefactor and friend (and also lowkey like... a son? to Ine??? he sees her as his child lowkey... and also she gives him money... it's weird) however, Ine was not aware about Mauvi and Yvette knowing each other (bc she's a random nun from a convent who was visiting from Lieve on the other side of the county- who has an episode and might have killed someone) but of course, as soon as Mauvi and Yvette see each other, both of them freak out- Yvette escapes while Ine tries to soothe Mauvi. At the same time, Mauvi claims that Seur Durand left just before Yvette and Ine arrived- but in actuality she killed him because of a few Mauvi lore things that happened before arc B, even- and she just. kills him. anyway when Yvette is hiding she goes into the shed on the property, discovers Seur Durand's corpse. She sleeps in the shed next to the corpse anyway, and leaves the next morning when she hears Mauvi and Ine going to the Trisects' office together because Mauvi is attempting to prove to Ine that the woman who he introduced as a patient should have died seven years prior- and that Mauvi was not a big wuss for fainting when Ine tried to introduce her to a nice, young, Menderist, lady (Ine disapproves of the relationship between Cygne and Mauvi and was lowkey trying to set up the nun he thought murdered a guy and Mauvi... who Ine knows murdered her own father when she was 12-13 ish (because Ine was the chief constable investigating the case and covered it up before changing career path and becoming a doctor with the hush-money... and he felt that Mauvi's dad was dismembering orphans so it's like.... okay this is a lot, sorry) (the orphans were Mauvi and Mauvi dismembered them... hard to explain iIswear Mauvi lore will be explained... sometime) . Anyhow when Yvette escapes into the woods, Cygne and her friends are out hunting. Cygne (being vampire fungus who can sense Yvette's energy) breaks from the group and attempts to hunt Yvette down (Yvette cannot catch a break) but Caille (Cygne's younger sister) finds Yvette first and ensures that Cygne cannot go and get Yvette by drawing the rest of the hunting group to Yvette's hiding spot and causing a scene so Yvette can get away. (this is not the last time Cygne literally tries to fucking hunt Yvette for sport)(this damn story is a fucking feverdream it's... meant to be insane). Anyway after this, Cygne is pissed with Mauvi because she knows Yvette came from the direction of Mauvi's house- so is like- uh- mad at Mauvi because she thinks Mauvi managed to kidnap Yvette, when Cygne should be the one to kidnap Yvette- ect ect- because Cygne y'know, needs to convince Yvette to end the world or she'll be eaten by cosmic janitorial entities.
