Day 230: The Knight of Swords and the Ace of Cups
Well, shit. Two cards turned up again today. Maybe The Universe is trying to teach me how to convey twice the information while sticking to roughly the same number of words or maybe The Universe is having trouble editing it’s own self.
I like when the Knight of Swords comes up in anyone’s reading because it means things are about to get exciting. This knight rushes in, stirs things up, gets people moving. It’s about the need to be on our toes, keep our eyes open. Our focus should never waiver, when this card comes along, and we should step forward fearlessly. We are being asked to be a mover and shaker.
According to The Medicine Woman deck, this card asks us to be very careful with our words. This knight is associated with The Coyote, who is also known as The Trickster because of his ability to reel folks in with his silver tongue. We must remember that we are not what others think of us, we are the words we allow to echo in our minds. This card tells us to trust our own instincts and then back up our words with straightforward action.
The Ace of Cups, on the other hand, is not a hard-edged card. It’s about opening up our hearts to new possibilities. The Knight of Swords tells us something is about to happen and the Ace of Cups says that something is pretty wonderful. We will receive blessings from above and enjoy fertility of some kind. With the Medicine Woman deck, this card urges us to recognize our ability to give love. There must be no strings attached, no thought of getting anything in return. If we picture ourselves are being filled with kindness, acceptance, comfort, and caring, those qualities will flow out of us and toward those who must need assistance.
Positive cards keep coming my way and telling me to be grateful for the person I’ve become, for the life I have. It’s hard for me to be that positive about myself, to see anything about myself in such an approving way. I beginning to suspect that’s the lesson at hand. god only knows how many more cards it will take to teach me to--as the old song goes--accentuate the positive and eliminate the negative.
A positive attitude can really make dreams come true - it did for me. --David Bailey
