Okay, so I am pretty firmly on the side of not trying to judge authors based on their characters beliefs/actions. My characters aren’t meant to be reflections of my real life experiences.

For one I have yet to hang out with an immortal embodiment of Death, and I doubt I would be anywhere near chill about it if it did happen.

I’ve also, not even once, moved to the US under a fake name to live like a hermit in the woods.

So, you know, not out here trying to hold other authors to strange standards.

But sometimes I really do lose the will.

Yep. Totally. You do you boo.

But, in the same way that this line is usually a red flag to me at a dnd table, this being your response to criticism tells me that you don’t know how to actually justify it as a genuine character decision.

…equally this is why the back button exists and my pathological inability to back out of fics that are pissing me off is entirely my problem.
