Coping skill: Habitica
Habitica is an app for your phone. I know it’s available for iPhone and I’m pretty sure for android as well. But basically it’s an app that lets you put in daily lists of things you want to accomplish, habits you want to nurture, etc.
Everyday that you complete habits and your “dailies” you get rewarded with experience and your HP goes up. If you miss some dailies or a day completely some of your HP goes down. So it’s kind of like an RPG game that helps encourage you to have a routine and stay focused. As someone who struggles with low spoons and executive dysfunction, this app really helps because it allows me to see that even if one day or a couple days I slip up, I can still get back on track!
Look! I’ve got a character (I’ve got a purple Gryphon mount and a pet lion ❤️) and because I’ve continuously kept on even when I couldn’t get all to-dos done in a day, I’ve still unlocked different pets and mounts and potions. Once you reach level 10 you can go on quests and such.
Another thing, you’ll notice my list of dailies are very simple tasks but not simple for me. Some tasks are easier so I labeled them “easy” in difficulty to carry out. Others, get a “medium” or “hard” classification, so if you do those, you are rewarded more!
I just wanted to share. This app doesn’t fix everything but it does put into perspective your progress as well as letting you see that just because you slip up for a bit doesn’t mean you can’t come back from it.
