I want to go deeper into Em's lore but I don't know where to start, so if you want to send asks for her please do.
Em's a pathetic, they know people only pretend to care about her- but she doesn't care. She's just happy they kept her around long enough for her to feel a little bit less lonely. And maybe Bill did care but towards the end of the Book of Bill he's definitely lashing out so I can see him being hurtful to Em. Or maybe he didn't care, and I'm delulu. (but I am free. I'm not I'm in hell suffering)
The eye in the bowtie Bill made Em shattered when Stanley destroys him in the mindscape, so now Bill can't even keep an eye on her- she still wears it because she misses him, despite all the horrible things he's done. She knows him better, or at least she tries to tell herself she does. (She knows he's not free of sin but she gets him in some distant way)
And I added some Bill being the third side of the triangle- you know, when you introduce your friend to your other friend and they get along so well they practically forget about you? As someone who loves attention I can see it getting on his nerves- not because he likes one more than the other but the fact that both of them don't seem to need him is probably a hit to the ego.
