Post con post - Animefest 2015
First of all, I’d like to say THANK YOU to everyone who stopped by. I had a great convention and really enjoyed talking with everyone.
I really appreciate Kiba and deadairx staying up ‘til ungodly hours to keep me company, and I’d probably have starved to death by now if roocrow hadn’t made it a point to drag me out to dinner at least once per convention! The Red Bull that Felix gave me on Monday really saved me, and shoutout to a-loving-panda: stay away from the pineapple juice!! Also, Garmeth, keep doing what you’re doing; I think you’re on the right track, so don’t let small setbacks get you down.
We started using the system that we developed at San Japan, and I think it worked out really well for AFest too. If there’s anything you think we could improve about it, please let me know. I’m trying to work on making things faster so that I can get as many buttons done as possible. I always feel really bad when I have to close the line with people still wanting buttons.
This year was the first year that I started selling premade charms, and I have to say that I was floored by the number of people who bought my Disgaea charms. I mainly made those for myself since I couldn’t find anything I liked online, so I wasn’t really expecting them to sell too well at the conventions. However, they were my best-selling charms by far! As a Disgaea fan, this was very exciting for me!!
A lot of people expressed disappointment that I didn’t have a Killua charm to match Gon’s (”Gon and Killua need to be togetherrrrr!!”), so I’ll finish his up ASAP to have it ready for the next convention. I’m hoping to get a lot of charm designs done this fall/winter, so I should have more variety of characters for next year. I’m open to suggestions for charactes/series, but I do want to make sure that I have read/seen/played whatever series the character is from.
Regarding online sales, I’m working on getting good pictures of the charms and figuring out how exactly to sell online.. I’m very new to this. The plan right now is to set up a page on my tumblr, or make a new blog, and have each charm as its own post with a “Buy now” button. It will be very experimental for a while, so we’ll see how it goes.
Pictures will be posted in the next few weeks, so keep an eye out for them! We’re still recovering from the con, so it may be a while before my mom feels rested enough to tackle uploading all the pictures.
The next convention we’re planning to go to is AKon 2016. Registration hasn’t started yet, but I’ll be sure to update my page once we get confirmation!
I hope everyone is having fun, and we’ll see you again next year!
