Notes for 05-13-1983
- I've come to the conclusion that I don't simply want some sort test-tube environment where I just study the computer world. I want to be able to make something that's never been done before. If Dillinger can make something as powerful as the MCP, what's to stop me from making something beneficial to the world?
- Programs have some sort of "inherent" intelligence, they can think and feel, in a way. It's so strange. I wonder what would happen if I just made a bunch of "blank-slates". Programs without any sort of purpose. Would they be similar to what I've seen before? What would it take to make a program act exactly like a human? If they don't have jobs or anyone giving them direct orders, what happens?
- I managed to get the laser to boot up. I spent months building the basement. I don't think anyone has seen it yet, aside from the guys who helped me lug it down here. It's all going to have to feed off a generator for now.
- I wonder if anybody at work is going to wonder why I decided to move the laser. I'm debating whether or not to tell Alan or Lora.
