“i’m not sUre what yoU mean by ‘there’, jake.” truth be told, cali didn’t really know what she was doing to begin with. it had been a while since all of them had beaten the game, but it felt like something was missing- something in her was missing. was it her bastard of a brother? why would she miss him? it was homesickness, something she didn’t know existed, but the cherub knew better than to get emotions to her.
at least, that’s what cali wants to believe. “if yoU mean finally having peace, then… i don’t know, trUly. i… i think that’s jUst the thing with traUma, bUt i’m not a therapist. maybe yoU shoUld speak with rose aboUt your troUbles?”
this conversation took a very strange turn for jake, who felt perhaps she had taken the topic he had started down a weird path. then again, what did he mean? why did he say that? his mind was wandering through a multitude of things, from happy thoughts to worries, before he suddenly blurted something out. why her reaction was such a shock baffled him for a moment before he remembered – it’s because he hates talking about his feelings.
the word trauma stuck out to him like a sore thumb. is that what had happened? he supposed so. he felt this new place wasn’t where he belonged, that he belonged back on his island. having so many people around felt so strange and tiresome. was he truly happy here?
he figured yes, yes he was. he had to be. he also figured this pause was way too long and he should probably start running his mouth again.
“Perhaps ill get her on the line then. Wait is she an actual therapist or does she just play the part? Because ive been under the impression that shes been a fakey faker this whole time.” his tone, at the very least, tried to play that off as a joke. being silly was the best way to avoid hard conversations and he was going to use that right now.
