okay
i need to make this rant about harry potter. because i feel like this isn’t considered much.
i hate harry potter for two reasons: Rowling can kiss my ass, and the worldbuilding is absolute garbage.
i love worldbuilding, i do it every day, it is my favorite hobby period. now, i am like 16 as of writing this so i’m not fucking excellent at it. so take all this with a tiny grain of salt.
but harry potter’s worldbuilding makes me want to rip my hair out. take, for example, magic:
they say you need a wand for magic, but then there are times you see ron or hermoine cast spells just by saying the name. and you have to say the name when you cast it… except those times you’re being pelted with bolts of literal fucking black magic instakill death. then you don’t, and neither do your foes.
so you know. consistency isn’t real, already bad. maybe it gets better???
GOBLINS ARE LITERALLY A RACIST STEREOTYPE. ERM????
and they only appear, say, once??? and i don’t just mean visually, i do actually mean being MENTIONED. not typical for the people who are supposed to be bank tellers!! who you think you’d talk to a lot!!!
also, why does it take so long for the deathly hallows to be MENTIONED? or anything for that matter. it feels like everything is just super glued on as needed and everything else has to cry about it and adapt. because media can totally do that.
TLDR; harry potter’s world is inconsistent and has slapped on pieces that make no sense and no effort is made to make sense of them. i hate it primarily from a world building standpoint. and yes rowling can still suck my girlcock. thank you for coming to my TED talk.
