Post Corona Future of Backpacking ?
Suresh Thimiri
So, last night I was just thinking about my backpacking time in Kasol, India. It was in the month of July, the weather was just perfect. Imagine yourself, sitting on a rock, with your feet in cold water flowing by. Listening to the sound of the babbling brooks at sunrise. The smell of that meadow, with smell of freshly made maggie. Ah! Pure Bliss.
I was thinking about it, and it landed me to a thought about, Backpacking post corona. It is going to be different for sure. We May be needing certain vaccines for some countries. I can’t imagine how this won’t turn into standard procedure for some destinations. I can already hear the anti-vaxxers losing their minds.
As for the long term prospects of tourist travel, if it ever does return to “normal” I think it’ll be a long time in the future.
Is this extremely serious? Yes. Does this change our day to day lives for the time being? Yes. Is this a fundamentally life changing event for the future of humanity? No.
Life post-coronavirus will be largely identical to life pre-coronavirus. There have been other pandemics before, and there will be other pandemics again. For those that disagree, post a coherent response as to why, then type a remind me comment for one or two years.
Is there a future for backpacking? Seriously?Backpacking will exist after coronavirus in exactly the way it exists now, fuck me.
People are incredible. They forget exactly how much of a short memory humans have. Posts like this suggest we’ll be coming out of an underground bunker to the dusty wasteland in a post-nuclear disaster world. Stop getting so caught up on emotion and excitement and think logically.
We’re in the middle of a rain storm and your standing out in the rain saying “wow, it’s never going to stop raining, life as we know it will change”. No champ, it’ll stop raining, the storm just hasn’t fucking passed yet.
Life Post corona will be different. But I’m sure we can roll with it.
