First and Last Line

Inspired by @firawren’s post

Rules: post the first and last lines of the last 10 fics you posted.

1. Strange Things Did Happen Here

Everything after is a blur: A woman’s shriek over the roar of the crowd, Thread’s protests, hurried signatures, and the Mayor’s insistence that we clear out.

Instead I shoot him a parting scowl, tuck the bottle under my arm, and exit to the sound of his chuckle.

2. Forts

He was watching Katniss wrestling pillows off the couch and cursing the Capital decorator who’d outfitted the Victor’s homes when a memory surfaced.

A peal of laughter is her only response.

3. If We Met Up at Midnight

Had the messenger arrived a day earlier, he would have been greeted by a yellow flag above our door, and had to turn back, summons undelivered.

“Congratulations Mr Mellark, you’ve been granted a pardon.”

4. Reunion

He’s thin.

With my ear pressed to his chest I let the thud of his heartbeat lull me to sleep.

5. Daydreams and Dandelions

Peeta bends down to pluck a single dandelion.

His arms wrapped securely around my waist, I feel the rhythm of his breathing even out, pulling me into sleep with him.

6. Fated

“Oh no not him.”

“Always.”

7. Fairy Lights

“I know the box looks different, but it will taste the same, I promise.”

“Merry Christmas Peeta.”

8. Wild Onion Flowers

She doesn’t bother knocking (they never do) as she lets herself into Peeta’s home.

“Thank you” he says into her hair, but safe in Peeta’s arms, she feels like she should be the one thanking him.

9. Senior Year

“I’m sorry. You don’t meet our minimum weight requirement, you won’t be able to donate today”, Nurse Sae turns the digital monitor towards her to inspect the number. Her shoulders slump.

He decides he can save his dinosaur questions for another day.

10. THG Trick or Treat

He enters his kitchen to find the trio looking sullen.

He’ll likely regret this later, but as he watches their growing excitement as they sit at his table and plan, he can’t seem to care.

A Future Bright as Snow-  When Bilbo comes to breakfast with a head full of white hair, the dwarves rather inaccurately assume this must mean Bilbo is quite advanced in age. Thorin finds he may have to speed his plans of courtship along if he is to have any sort of satisfied future with the hobbit now. Birthday Gift 2021 for @stardryad​

Sequel: A Light in the Dark- Before Gandalf and Elrond have words in front of them, Bilbo and Thorin are given a chance to admire the view and share some insights to each other's childhoods. (Tumblr Link)

Sequel: A Pause Before Winter Hits- Bilbo feels his age with his regrets towards sending his nephews on a dangerous quest. Luckily, Thorin is there to remind him how dear his snow bunny is to him. (Tumblr Link)

Ghost of a Chance (4/7)-  Tauriel needs somebody to walk her down the aisle at her wedding and turns to her "work-dad". Bilbo is fine until faced with a man he had left in the past after he escaped out a window during their one night together. Guardian of Kings (6/6)-  The Company has been having a good laugh as the story of their quest spreads through the mountain and more and more retellings makes Thorin out to be Bilbo’s damsel in distress. It stops becoming funny when Thorin’s honor is challenged, and it’s up to Bilbo to defend it. (Tumblr Link)

The Marali Festival (14/14)- Bilbo thinks Thorin is ready for the next phase in their relationship after receiving an anonymous note. One More Little Adventure (6/6)-  Bilbo is wondering whether remaining in Erebor is the right decision anymore, and a misunderstanding with Thorin solidifies his choice in leaving. However, Bilbo's acorn he picked up from Beorn's garden takes matters into its own hands and shrinks the both of them.

Outside My Window- Bilbo is a writer who takes to looking out the window of his flat into the courtyard garden for inspiration, and inspiration comes in the form of a handsome jogging artist that he finds himself too scared to do much more than watch him.

A Smile for a Cold Spoon- Thorin was blessed with two Callings, but they both are 'Cold' meaning it only invokes anger, sadness, regret, etc. All he wants is one chance to make someone feel something 'Warm'. He never thought he would get the chance, until a hobbit passes by his stand and smiles.
