not to be the annoying Catholic, but I’m interested in why a few of the fics I’ve seen for BloodyMary have the Hail Mary prayer cut in a strange way?
the full prayer off the top of my head is:
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
But most of the time writers cut out the entire middle part. The workaround I’ve come up with is that through essentially a game of religious telephone the prayer has evolved to be shorter and different, as happens when it’s passed through time and word of mouth. But if that’s the author’s reason I don’t really see it mentioned.
It doesn’t bug me that much but I’m curious. I haven’t played the game and didn’t catch all the dialogue in the movie, is there a piece of canon I’m missing out on or a reason?
