#NaNoWriMo2016 #PostNaNo: So NaNo is over, whether you made 50k or not you struggled, you worked, you wrote. If you didn't, you either wished you did or thought about why you didn't/couldn't. For an entire month you thought about your writing, your story. So now what? Will you collapse in a puddle of caffeine withdrawal muttering how you'll never do that again? Will you binge watch Netflix? Will you move on to editing your work and, faced with that, wonder why you wasted a month? 😏 The answer to that is about as different as each writer. Maybe you did NaNo on a lark or dare, to see if you could do it, like climbing a mountain. Cause it's there. Or maybe you wanted to see what it was all about. Heck, maybe you did it for the lattes (who am I to judge?!). Or maybe, just maybe, you're like me and you have a dream of writing your stories but you've always made everything else more important. Look, folks, you can bask in the glow of winning for a day, then tuck your NaNovel away and forget about it. OR you can take advantage of the fact that you've established a new pattern in your life. Yeah, ok, the lattes and pastries may have to be pried from your hands so that you don't get too unhealthy (I'm looking at me 😏), but the fact that I made time for my writing...and the world didn't end? I'm not putting that in a box. I'm taking it with me. And more than that, I'm going to build on it, because just because NaNo is over doesn't mean my NaNovel is finished. I'm taking a page out of the book of @ChuckWendig, #TheGreatPenMonkey himself, when he says "FINISH YOUR shtuff!" Okay, he used a little more NSFW language but that's his voice and I have mine. The sentiment remains: finish what you start. So, fresh idea board ✔️, cup of tea ✔️, time to write ✔️. I'll stop when I'm finished. Then I can collapse into a puddle of goo for a while. #AmWriting (at Panera Bread)
