Locative Postpositions Turkish

Locative postpositions describe the location of a noun. The postpositional phrase is formed by using the genitive construction of a noun followed by the postposition. For example: evin içinde - inside the house.

Some common locative postpositions:

İç - In; inside

Arka - Back

Üst/Üzeri - On; Abovd

Ön - Front

Dış - Out; Outside

Yan - Near

Orta - Middle

When making your full postpositional phrase, attach the locative case ending to the postposition

Evin içi - The inside of the house

Evin içinde - Inside the house (At the inside of the house)

How can I make adpositions assign cases other than the genitive or accusative?

That’s not a question one can answer without knowing the system and the language. But, for example, relationships between two nouns can be defined by the genitive, but could also be defined by the partitive, the ablative, or the dative. That’s three more cases. But also, there’s analogy. For example, if you have V Nx = A, V Ny = Ay, and V Nz = Az, it’s not too far a leap to say, all right, if you have V P Nx = B, then V P Ny = By and V P Nz = Bz. That’s what happened with a lot of the Dothraki prepositions.
