I picked up a couple leg vises both were missing mounting bracket & spring. I had a extra bracket from a scrapped vise that was good for the smaller vise. The big vise weighs 140lb 7 inch jaws. The small one is 50lb 5 inch jaws. I forged to fit the old bracket to the smaller vise and forged a new spring. Blacksmith postvise restoration. I forged a new jaw rivet and new spring for this old vise that was brought to me by a friend. I've forged a few springs for these vises before but never have had to replace the rivet. I buried this beam in the ground a number of years ago . It's about 2 feet in the ground. Last winter the ground moved it off level. It's my main vise in the shop. I use it more than the rest of the vises I have . I think without having t dig out all the cement. I'm going to try to unbolt the vise & cut the beam, re-level it and weld it back together .
