yuuup we had the best food selection for our church potluck in the park 😂🙌😋 I CHICKENed out of cooking and brought...chicken 😂 (and tri tip) from @stonefiregrill but omg the homecooked stuff that other people brought was amazing! . If only I hadn’t been so caught up in catching up with Jun ahahas by the time I went to get food most of it was gone already LOL but that’s ok - super worth 👍 It’s not every day I get to chat and hangout with the dude :) . Yesterday we went to a fun day at the park with several other Autism families. We had a pot luck picnic, there were bubbles and music. One family had the sweetest German Shepherd puppy (since Izzy is deathly allergic, we didn’t pet the doggie but I wanted to). Izzy had a super fun time and we sure paid for it. As you can see Izzy grabbed Jackson’s hand and walked all over the play area with him. So sweet! I really haven’t had the energy (or want) to get out and see or really even talk to people but it was so much fun! Last night I made Spanish meatballs (Izzy ate several servings) for dinner. Paul and Carl picked up my next project (finish a desk for Paul) last night (so I know what I’ll be doing today). #potluckinthepark #somuchfun (at Spokane Valley, Washington) https://www.instagram.com/p/BxFhvEEh78f/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1jc2qii9rj5tb
Potluck is now facing its most challenging time. We started seeing the effects of the recession in 2008 when we experienced a 20% increase in meals served. We have continued to experience an 8-10% increase every year since. This year we are frequently serving over 600 guests each week. If you are able to assist Potluck in the Park during this holiday season, I have listed below some ways that you can do that. You can donate any time of year at http://www.potluckinthepark.org/, and/or you can volunteer!
First and foremost, you can join me this Thursday at our fundraiser, Winter Warm 6, the latest in a jazz concert series organized by long-time supporter and renowned Portland jazz pianist Tom Grant. Rain or shine, 52 weeks a year, hundreds of needy people have a hot meal and a community gathering place because generous supporters understand food is a human right and hunger is a human wrong. Every Sunday for twenty-one years Potluck in the Park volunteers have prepared and served healthy wholesome meals with dignity and kindness. The secret to Potluck in the Park’s staying power is the story of its people. Our tenacious teams of career-volunteers have inspired thousands of other volunteers to donate their time, talent and money. Their dedication and passion has made Potluck in the Park a touchstone for a community in crisis.
